Has the Towner bubble burst? Be a shame if it was over but if this is the end he'll forever be remembered for his 2017 heroics.

He was always going to be overtaken when the young talent was ready, he's still AFL ready depth though.

During his flat spot did Dimma ever try to run him in the role that won him the Liston last year? Maybe he could have done something about Yeo or Jacobs if he was in those contests more often.

he is asked to play an unselfish role ..............pls just don't look at his stats in isolation ............goals. kicks marks are ok .he his team role/focus has been .forward pressure acts and fear to opp backman!! only ..........that's his team role .............and its work for the TEAM ....but at times he sacrifices his own (stat) game for the team ..and sometimes ( in a stat driven environment) leaves is contribution ( to the ill-informed) so-called lacking!!! ::)

he is Richmond ......not flashy, not specular. not that good enough.......... he just plays his TEAM role .............and it works for the team!

it will be interesting if he plays in the 2nds ....???? playing sore still??

back MR Sept!! ..........give the kids a go!!! ;D

Id like to see JT swung into the guts for bursts of high impact pain.

we know Dimma is neither reactionary or creative on match day.

and holding the line won us the flag, but a few curly moves in his abattoir would make us better IMHO.

Spot on TBH!

I would have liked to see Townsend have a run through the midfield when Jacobs was tagging Martin , Let jacobs feel townsend around him where ever he went and sometimes just let him feel some pain

There was always going to be pressure on Townsend to consistently produce his late 2017 form. He took the opposition by surprise last year and this year the opposition has put more effort into it. He's not a quick player and imo not an exceptional read of the ball which makes it hard for him to win contests. You can be defensively minded forward but you also need to bring a minimum in attacking influence. I think with Dusty and Caddy playing forward a lot it's hard to have Townsend also in there as a similar sized player.

Fly ;D

from RFC.com

Townsend was as tough as teak all-day, even mauling the 111kg Coburg captain, Tom Goodwin.

mauling. 111kg

It was a short throw in and Goody ran forward and grabbed it but Towner met him head on and dumped him. Holding the ball!

he should have been given a crack at NicNat last week. 111kg is 111 kg

Was a masterclass in grunt. Goody was on the charge like a big prop in rugby, Towner just moved in and nailed him sweet as.
