Jack Ross

Geez you’d think Jack had murdered their mother the way some on here are bagging him.
Or worse still he played for Geelong.
Move on kids he’s signed the deal.

Before he got his latest injury, I thought that Jack was showing a lot of upside. Not AA level but a seriously good competitor around the ground for us. Deserves his resigning and hope to see him playing again before seasons end but he must come through the VFL first

He may not ever be a first line mid. But if you don't think Jack Ross could be an excellent, off the bench, bottom 6 player in a premiership side, you just don't like Jack Ross.
Correct. It's a well known adage in footy that flags are often won when the winner's 'bottom 6' is better than the loser's 'bottom 6'. Because that's where any weak links in the chain are exposed and exploited by a smart opposition.

In a match between two top teams, while all the best players may play brilliantly, their net effect on the score may be to cancel each other out, whereas the cracks in a system can really open up if the lesser players' weaknesses can be fully exploited.

There are exceptions of course, like when you get total dominance in a GF by a Dusty type, but that dominance is enabled, at least in part, by a solid contribution from the bottom 6. For example, I'd suggest we went into the 2017 GF with a bottom 6 that, on paper, included Townsend, Kmac, Graham, (who else?) But, boy oh boy, we got a pretty good return on our investment - compared to Adelaide's bottom 6.

Sounds like he is a great clubman. Decent player, right age demographic still and well worth resigning imho.

Very promising player whose career has been totally stuffed by injury up til now. Hope he gets a great preseason in and a good run at it next year.

I'm backing him all the way.

TBH I dont really know why they are playing him at all at this stage sane as Lynch and Brown just set em aside till pre season.

Maybe because they're footballers n they've spent months working their arses off trying to get back fit n healthy so that they can play the game they love again.

With the injury he had theres more merit in having him ready to hit Pre Season at full fitness.

Well Rossy n Lynchman aren't carrying any " footy " impact niggles at the moment n they've probably been doing mini pre seasons over the last month or more trying to get some fitness up n making sure their rehabbed injuries are capable of handling some footy load. But now you want them to pack up the marbles n simply shut down for a couple of months so they can start going through another pre season again.
Yeah. Nah. Whack them out there for a couple of games, if they break then they break. There's what 3 rounds to go, let them have a run around n feel good about themselves. Then they go on break n start a normal pre season like the rest of the list.

Also hasn’t signed a contract yet. So trying to prove his value as well I would have thought.

Was brilliant in 3 qtrs of vfl footy today. Didn't play the first (where the game was lost).

He is such a classy, composed player. Just turns a scrap into a quality clearance through high percentage ball use. Amazing how much time he had with ball in hand today after 12 weeks off, even considering that its VFL level.

He's a much better midfielder than either Hopper or Taranto.

That’s good to hear he had a very good game after so long out.

Played very well today. Probably not an A grade mid but definitely B grade and you need those for depth. Good player.
