Jack Ross

Ross got made to look slow and soft today by a #lolnorf reject. Time to move him on.
Where do you expect all the ready-made replacements to come from?

You can only transition so much of the list each year.

We already have retirements aplenty and other players that need to move on before Ross. He's had multiple average to good games in a row and now one bad one. No different to others and better than many.

As a previous Ross doubter I wouldn't judge him on yesterdays game. The senior players were abysmal, crazy to expect the less experienced players to carry the side under those circumstances.

He's shown enough to persist with in the seniors. He and Dow need to be given plenty of opportunity.

Next year is gonna be a battle, both have shown that they have the ability to play at AFL standard. Surely they can only develop consistency by being given plenty of game time.

I'll raise an issue that does my *smile* head in - Ross so often folds in a tackle but keeps his arms free to dish off by hand. like any AFL player should.

BUT

he doesn't land them. these hand passes end up dribbling out like a geriatrics *smile*.

sure, he's corrected his footskills, but he just isn't capable of standing up to the heat of a tackle like he should, especially with his strong frame.

Yeah often i'd rather he hold the ball in for a ballup...better than a turnover

Against Fitzroy in R23 Ross improved a bit. (A lot on his previous game.)

23 touches. 10 contested. Wow. 4 clearance. 9 SI. Big.

It was only Fitzroy but Ross worked harder at the contest and used very well.

I'm OK with Ross these days, but thats because we blew the last dance and are in reno, rebuild, transition whatever you want to call it and we have bigger problems, but his frequent tiny passes that rightly get called not 15 are annoying.

Biggest surprise for me from last night was how low Jack Ross finished in the voting after playing 19 games.
Thought overall he had a decent year.
There's obviously something the coaches haven't liked or that he's so vanilla he doesn't attract votes.
I'm sure he'd have been a bit disheartened after the count.

from memory Merv Keane didn't poll much either but was a great player. I have high hopes for Jack Ross.

Very odd. I would have thought he would have been in the top 20. Mansell, Pickett above him but Ross had a better year than those guys IMO

Said it in the B&F Thread. He is a very mediocre player and just not rated internally. Worst part is, of our younger players, he is one of the best performed and most consistent.

We’ve got some serious issues with our lack of young talent coming through.
