Got plenty of ball yesterday but geez, there was zero hurt factor in any of his possessions. Unfortunately this is becoming all too common in his senior appearances.

He’s exactly the age and experience profile we need more of on the list but if someone offered us a second rounder for him I’d probably take it.

That would be a matter of some debate.

It looks to me like he uses his composure and strength to find the percentage option. It's not always the flashy one, but it's usually the guy who's free and not about to be tackled.

82% De indicates a clean user, and a safe user, which has its own value. But, for hurt factor, 5 score involvements from 22 disposals is a better conversion rate than Taranto or Hopper yesterday. Nowhere near Bolton or Prestia's game. Which puts him exactly where I would rank him for his creativity and damage, generally. 400 metres gained puts him in the top 6.

Damage may not be his one go to. Put he uses it well enough to give us the transition that's so critical in the modern game.

Agree with Coburg about debating this - there was a period during the game where he intercepted the ball at the defensive end of the square, turned into and side stepped through traffic and gave of a great long forward hand pass that started a chain that resulted in a goal.

He will never be a top 5 player for us, but you need plenty of solid foot soldiers and I believe he could be a reliable player for us

He’s probably one of the few that avoids doing hospital handballs. He has composure and uses his smarts.

Honestly I’d currently have him in the side before any of the superhunks. (Except Ryan - he’s a Superhunk, yeah?)

He’s only 22, finds the ball, generally uses it well, and can play anywhere between the arcs. Dominates VFL in a way you wish the superhunks would.

Agree he’d be more damaging if he took more risks - that’s on the coaches to give him the confidence that he won’t be immediately dropped the first time it goes wrong.

I think he’ll be a good, solid, reliable player for us. And that’s ok, there’s only so much cap space to go around.

Nuts n bolts blue collar worker. The kinda player that helps make the super hunks look pretty. Every team needs them and plenty of key board officionado's beg to give them away for left over picks in next years draft.

yep, will never win a Brownlow but could be a longterm solid citizen mid a la Jack G for us. That one aggressive handball that lead to a goal shows he's got some skills.

We've seen this many times before on this forum - the PRE supercoaches are easily seduced by flash and style and write off the good ordinary footballers.

Truth is you always need a mix of Shai B x-factor and Shaun Grigg honest hard worker.

He's taken a big step forward this year. At VFL he was a prominent player last year, but this year he's been toying with them. And now at AFL level you see the confidence he has working in traffic, and to take on a tackle, keep his arms free and get it to someone in space.

Still young and his true value will be from 2024.

Grigg is the perfect prototype for Ross.

Maybe a little more inside potential.

22 disposals at 82% efficiency. Needs to keep playing in his natural position on the wing.

Given how many veterans we have to retire in the next year or two, and how many kids still with question marks, important that we get games into Ross.

I doubt he will ever be a star, but he will be an important player over the next 10 years alongside Taranto and Hopper to build our next-generation team around.

Agree, but he still has some work to do to get to the level where he is automatically picked in the seniors. That said, the improvements may be incremental but they are there.

Good post

He is a solid citizen who just keeps on turning up. Concerns about his disposal are over blown.

We just need to understand who he is and what his value is and stop expecting him to be something else. To me he is an AFL quality 2nd stringer, never going to be a star but still a valuable contributor.

Just has to given 10 matches without a break. Cannot be experimenting with him in 2024. Has to be part of best 24 by end of year or move on.

In all honesty and it hurts to say but he's giving us more than Cotch when he plays

Dimma has gone on record saying that Grigg was in the top echelon in the league for football I.Q.
Ross is a lot of things. But Shaun Grigg he is not

hehe, that comment should go well on here. but the reason he often plays wing is cos he works. and works and works. both ways.
