I’d just play a 25 possession midfielder and get him to immediately tackle the opposition ruck every contest to force a random scramble.

We’d be better off, not joking.

Yep. Or play Broad.

Yeh, the cats only have Zac Smith, but I still think we need a ruckman. Soldo v Smith is not one or the ages.

Incorrect. The Moggies have a whole crew of rucks: Stanley, Abbott and Fort and maybe more I don't know about. Arguably they are all either better or at least as good as Soldo and CCJ (presently).

But if Soldo can match up against anyone, it's Smith who is similar to him. Good chance they will select Stanley who will be far too fast and athletic for him (former winner of the GF sprint!).

Pray for Smith, who will still school him, as expected for a far more experienced AFL ruck, but Soldo is the best we have ATM.

You are just delusional if you think a tackling mid or a 19 yo Balta can stop Smith giving the Moggies powerful midfield first use continually. But he might even it up a little more than against a really mobile opponent.

I'll say it 47 times:

How the hell is he actually on a afl list let alone getting a game?
Going in with 21 tomorrow night.

Who was the last good ruckman we developed ourselves (ie didn’t get from another club)?

Ottens? Then Benny Gale before him, then Mark Lee? Haven’t been many

Thats easy

THE CAMEL was so good the Crows wanted him to replace Ivan Maric ..................

I can’t understand how the club could go into the season with Soldo as our backup ruck.

Think you needed to say it 1,147 times TF.

He either has no idea when it comes to reading the ball in flight, or he's scared.

I really hope I'm right in thinking it's the former.

He has no idea. Has barely marked it in our wins.

0 marks. How hard is it for a 200+cm?

This is a huge part of our problem at the moment. We have no down the line marking targets. Jack and Nank back will improve our "get out" kick conversion, and can all be rotated forward with Balta and Lynch. Soldo doesn't give us that forward option, nor can he mark that down the line ball

Before everyone praises his 1 useful hitout, I’d like to point out he had at least 3 that directly led to Geelong clearances, reinforcing my point that HTA are essentially random events and it’s not worth sacrificing a player on the ground just because he’s tall and can win a meaningless stat.

Just play a footballer and find a way to stop the opposition ruckman grabbing and clearing it himself.

Solve this 1 issue and we get an additional footballer added to our team for 120 minutes.

Anyway, Ivan tried his guts out. That’s all we can ask for.
