Ivan Soldo

No way ,,,market value is 25-30 so were swapping a player plus our r2 for their r1 ,,,nup ,

I had it with a bit more coming back. Also got to remember that this years draft (before our first) is horribly impacted by PP's, F/S's and academy picks.

Currently its 26, add McKay compo, add Walters bid, add Read bid, add Rogers bid, add Croft bid, add McCabe bid, add Cleary bid and we might be back at 33 or something like that.

So you'd be trading for a future 1st (14-18 you'd think) with Soldo, 33 and possibly something coming back. I know draft points aren't the be all and end all, but using the points calculator, worst case scenario is port win the premiership (so pick 18), we can even adjust for 2 academy picks in Levi Ashcroft and assuming 1 other pops up, so maybe pick 20 worst case scenario is worth 912 points, pick 33 is 563, so points differential is 349 (Pick 45), we know thats too low for Soldo, but obviously there is alwao a higher weighting to getting a better player at 20 than 33, but even so to make up to pick 25 (pointswise), thats about 407 points which is why I suggested we got Ports pick 44 back this year, so something like:

Soldo and 26, for F1 and 44. It would pretty much give them the picks they need to get the other 3 over the line and give us a decent return for Soldo. Whilst the top 25 or so will be pushed back a lot this year, a lot of picks in the 30's and 40's will be accumulated by clubs for bids, so a lot of those will be "lost" from the draft, so I don't think the 40's picks should move too much.

Sam Edmund saying he “thinks” Ivan Soldo will be staying with us. Is he as unreliable as Sam Nocluer?

You should get a job on the AFL App Posh - then again you are probably too across it for that..

Ivan is our bridge between Nankervis & hopefully Ryan.

Must keep.
Making Nankervis captain was a misstep (in my eyes), as I would be moving on Nankervis before Soldo.

Sure Nankervis has been more impactful over the last few years and you can point to stats to make a case that he is a better ruck, however Soldo was badly injured (which hobbled his trajectory), and is only probably starting to come good now.

Nank has used his body to batter opponents to make up for his height and leap which I think has taken it's toll, and wouldn't be surprised if we see him get injured more regularly and spend more time on the sidelines next year.

And if it were up to some we would have traded Soldo already, which could would then leave us with only Ryan as a back up (I don't count Miller), who isn't ready now, and from what I saw this year will not be ready in 24 either.

Soldo may not be much younger than Nank but will last longer and I feel be a better ruck next year and onward.

Soldo is 2 years younger than Nank.

RFC website says he's 29, that's where I got it from. :)
The more important item is time in the game.
Nank debuted in 2015 and has played 136 games.
Soldo debuted in 2017 and has played 57 games.

Like cars it's more about the miles on the clock and Nank's miles were really hard work early on when he was the only ruck.
Soldo's were mostly in partnership, usually with Nank taking more of the work.

I dont want to see Soldo leave, but if he really wants to go to PA, what can we get in return? A future first-round pick? Their best young midfielder? Their best young tall forward? What do you think?

Realistically, a pick between 35 and 45

Anything better than that we would have to seriously consider.

I cant see Soldo being at RC next year. The noise is too strong.

A future first round pick and Port can have him.

Then start making a serious play for Sean Darcy who is a FA next year.

They've traded that already but I agree the noise is too strong and if Duursma leaves for the Bombers they will have the currency. I think Soldo and Ratagalea are traded for Pick 23 and Freos future 2nd. Not sure which player gets which pick though.

Cmon guys, we traded pick 46 for Nank.
Soldo will only get us a better pick as rucks are in demand.

Agree even better still is it a good time to leaverage him against Todd Marshall. Throw in Jack Graham as well. This would be our best outcome.

The interesting thing with Port is, I think they need a 1st for next year so they need to trade one in from somewhere. I'd be pretty happy if we helped them out next year by getting Todd Marshall as a FA and they get a Round 1 compo pick.
