Ivan Soldo

44 and our two for Marshall and their future 2nd?

I don't think that gets it done for a nearly 25 year old FF who has kicked 138.65 in 97 games and going at close to 2 goals per game over the last 2 seasons.

In reality and it was a single pick, he'd get a top 10 IMO.

The suggestion was Graham, Soldo and a F2 for Marshall and 44. I think because of the picks they need for the other guys it makes sense, and for a team that is going for a premiership right now they have depth in the forward line and Marshall has a lot of value.

Why all this chatter about trading Graham?
What has he done wrong to be considered for a trade?

Only hypothesizing with Graham as he tried to get there last year and has just become engaged so may want to get there too, and Port may still be interested.

I like Graham, but more hypothesizing if he still wants to go, could we make it work for us.

if port really want him, then it does give us the edge in securing a player & pick swap. Could be the ideal situration.

Port are desperate for a number 1 ruck, and I can't see Sweet being their target to play all the time, so I can see why they are potentially after Soldo too.

I can't see how they do the trades for 4 players with their current hand.

How do others think we could trade for Marshall using Soldo? Soldo is probably worth a pick around 25-30 IMO.

A few mentioning Marshall in any potential Soldo trade , would be nice but a bit far fetched.

He would be their most un touchable out of all their key forwards

As u know not keen on trading future picks, even 2nd rounders. We are not a top 8 side and have a way to go.
Marshall would be a great get though as both Graham and Soldo would be for them.

You'd normally think so but it all depends on list balance for them.

They are right in the premiership window and need to shore up their issues now. Thats defence and ruck. I'm not sure they can get it done without using future picks to bring these guys in. They may be able to do it with picks. Something like F2 for Ratagalea or Soldo. 37 and a F3 for the other one and 43 for Zerk Thatcher, its possible I guess but I'm not sure they get that done, so then it comes down to what they can trade.

Tall forwards for next year they have Dixon, Marshall, Finlayson, Lord and Giorgiadis with Marshall clearly having the greatest trade value, and it depends what he's telling them about re-signing, as he's a RFA next year. If he tells them he will probably look to move back to VIC (thats a big if) then they probably get somewhere between Pick 15-18 as I don't really see them sliding next year, so can they get it done for something better next year and protect their picks into next year? Possibly.

You don't think we could rebound next year with a quicker gameplan, younger midfield overall (ie. Cotch out) and adding talls at both ends of the field with Gibcus, Lynch (hopefully) and Marshall?

If the chance came up to trade in Marshall, I'd be looking at all available options including future picks.

Courageous and brings the necessary intensity but lacks speed and can’t match the top midfielders. Ditto issues as a half forward.

My opinion only, but could it be the recent signing of Graham is a bonus for us? if port want both Graham and Soldo, they will need to negotiate as both are signed? With Travis out, their ruckman gone, both players are ideal for them. we could just wedge a tall forward out of SA

No. We thought we were close last year and went down that route and as a result we are even further away than we were 12 months ago. Marshall would be great and Port Ad could well push hard for Soldo and a pick
or player but I think the more realistic chance of getting off the carpet a little more quickly, is trading for pick 4.

Don’t think we can achieve both but who knows.

For what it’s worth last week I had us trading Graham and Soldo for Marshall, and Short and pick 43 for pick 4, but you are maybe right if you think I was dreaming.

Fact 1 Port are really keen for a No 1 ruck.

Fact 2 We are not looking to trade Soldo

Fact 3 we are not desparate for a key forward (despite the views of some posters)

So value of trades are skewed in favour of the seller hense Soldo will be over valued and Marshal undervalued.

A side note Marshall didn't dominate during the final series just average.

true with Marshall. but he doesn't need to dominate if Lynch is present along with Bauer/Balta/Gibson. would be ideal though
