Ivan Soldo

As much as I admire Soldo, before his injury, this guy was flying. Taken a while to come back to some reasonable form. if there is a trade, then both parties will win. I don't think it will be a pick, as port doesn't have enough in order to secure their other two target. It may be a swap of players and pick order.

This will fast track Samson, he and Nank to share ruck duties, is a good combination. Still one tall forward short, need to negotiate this.
Soldo & Graham(Boak retiring) for Lord & F2?

We could play this very well to our advantage. If Port offer something good for Ivan we take it and then take Scott Lycett as a free agent to add to our our ruck stocks for a couple of seasons.

A lot of people think that all rucks are hopeless and a lot of people are dead right. But hopelessness, it seems can be calibrated. Start with Scott Lycett, the biggest liability ever to walk onto an AFL arena. (Ken Hinkley may be the only person in the world who doesn't know that.)

The Ports are desperate. Josh Carr must needs know that or he'd be at the dole office. Next to Lycett.

You don't need a dominant ruck, just a competitive one. Soldo for #37 or so is very good business for Port. So we shouldn't do that deal.

Especially as Soldo could excel as a first ruck as he did in the latter part of the 2019 season when Nank was absent & the early part of the 2020 season before the knee injury. It’s taken him until now to look like that player again.

With Nank looking cooked at times Why are we thinking of trading Soldo?

37 they can suck my balls.
He is a premiership ruckman in his prime.
He won't hurt us like Ottens leaving but it will hurt us giving him for nothing.
He is contract. A pick of a player or next yrs 1st rounder.

Why are we considering trading out Soldo again???

Nank looks like he is at least medium-well done.

Sampson isn't remotely there yet, but looking promising.

Aaaand...................... Biggie???

For me, unless we can get a great deal, we should be keeping Soldo and getting him super fit over Summer. Lets not forget what he showed for the first half against the Toffs!

I hope we're not. I'd like to see Ivvy start the game in the middle.

I reckon Nank is one of the reasons we start slow... I love Nank but taller more athletic ruckmen jump over the top of him early in games... Nank then wears them down the longer the games goes but I'd be starting with Ivvy or Samson.

Soldo to Port in 2024 could very well land them a flag.
So lets make them overpay.
Willie Rioli and a future 1st.

Rucks are valuable in the current market. He's a Premiership ruckman looking like he's finally getting past his knee issues.
Keep or we'd want to be well compensated.

If the club think Ryan will be in front of him next season may as well cash in while we can

Soldo was within a whisker of being traded last year, probably worth a pick in the 30-40 range, I would have done it then and used the draft capital on Grundy. Still can I suppose but it will be way more complicated this time around.

Are we looking to trade him, or are Poort chasing him.

Oh well, should do well up there. I'd probably just keep Soldo then, I don't think we can put all the eggs into the Ryan basket although I hope he does nail down the first ruck position.

Would you keep him if Port offered Marshall, the good one?

I'd do that in a heartbeat, grabbing another B grade ruck very doable, every year there's a decent option struggling for gametime. Last year it was Meek, prior to that there's been Darcy Cameron, Toby Nankervis, Stef Martin & Sauce Jacobs, just to name a few. I haven't looked closely at the availability this year but there should be something on offer.
