Ivan Maric

My original PRE name was Capitan Willard, I switched to Kurtz after two years of Gus as our first ruck. ;D

I've got a radical notion on Ivan. His first year for us was charged with emotion. His many prior with Adelaide were not. His 2013 for us was not. His emotional year was an exception for him.

Some people need regular arse kicks. Let's put Ivan on the trade table. He can have emotion with us or somebody else.

Maybe Dimma has to get stuck into Ivan like Eade used to do to Brian lake.

Ivan had a terrible final but aside from that he had a pretty good year. Led the AFL in percentage taps to advantage at times. Engineered a dozen clearances in the first quarter against the Hawks before they even had one, some pretty short memories around here. A few people have a whinge about Maric and suddenly it becomes fact on PRE.

Warnock is a big boy and Kruezer a number one pick, and yes Ivan got pantsed that day, but any half decent midfielder can rove to an opposition ruck. Every now and then you will come up against a Sandilands type, a guy you just won't beat at the center bounce, you have to learn to get the ball regardless. The mids were just as responsible as Maric for that final loss.

...

ivan did some great things for sure. i don't know the reason but he was considerably down on his 2012 season where he was 3rd in our b&f so the coaches rated him lower this year too. i hope he has a good pre-season, recovers from any niggles and is fit and well to have a brilliant 2014 at tigerland.

Maric fit and healthy is without doubt a necessary ingredient if the Tigers are to scale greater heights. Plus, i love his spirit and character and the intangible stuff he brings to the team.
I hope he is able to recuperate and rehabilitate over the pre-season, because I can't help but feel that if his body holds him back in 2014 then I would imagine he would have to seriously consider his place in the game.

Heh heh. Rucks #1 and #2 were not good in that test. Maybe they'll improve. But IMO the panel should make a call on at least one of them.

Vickery is a rare bird. He's a part time ruck but not a key forward. Not #1. Not #2. Does not hit the ball in the air. He finds holes and works the ground ball. He's a six-six medium. BTW isn't that what McBean is going to be at 19yo?

Rucks can be good or average but a ruck who bleeds leads to carnage. A ruck must never bleed. Bleed means let the other ruck dominate the taps - that is to say get his elbow clear of the other ruck's hand. This is a disaster. It's seppuku. Kick a roving goal? Lovely - kick another four.

Huh?

We do need a ruckman, let make it the best we can get, otherwise stick with big O.

Don't trade for a average ruckman.

Ivan's ankle might be worse than first thought with hard wick saying they are considering surgery...

Thanks to Blair we have a more than adequate replacement, Hampson could well be our most important recruit since Ivan himself.

It will be a huge bonus if can come back mid season, if that's the case with his ankle,
It's taken foley 5 years to get over an ankle injury

Hampson has always been a decent ruckman. Just had a bloke they needed to justify paying big bucks in Warnock and a very talented kid in KrueZer ahead of him - hence their desire to play him fwd. personally I don't care if he plays up fwd at all this year as his kicking is average. Number 1 ruckman is his spot. Will be a very good and super smart pick up.

So Marc is likely to be sidelined for a while. Hampson will ruck and Riewoldt Vickery and Griff will be the tall forwards.
Based on thT, miles and Stepho should be upgraded from the rookie list.

Ivan might be playing at punt road a bit this year going by the velvet hammer and the griffins tandem act today. Did you say ruck depth??

Zips - Axle did his achilles which is very different to an ankle and much more difficult to get right...hopefully Ivy will just need a clean up and be right within 3-4 weeks, should surgery be the chosen option.

His initial injury was his ankle, everything else came after.
