So like many of us what you were actually thinking during the North game was "mmm, we seem to be winning more tapouts than usual"

I was happy to see us winning more centre clearances. We have a midfield that can take us to the finals, we just need to get the ball to them more often.

Gus's lack of physicality saddens me Balooga.
I was disappointed to see his lack of urgency again.

Gus must know he is fighting for his future; would have been nice to play as though he was up for contest.

Sandilands next. That'll put hairs on his chest.

Would be nice to see Derrickxx get a run in the ruck next game.

I agree. We'd see what he is like as a ruckman, and we'd also see if he can hurt the opposition in the ruck with his mobility, which should give him the chance to have more of an impact around the ground than a guy like Sandilands does.

Sandilands is unbelievable around the ground ILO.

A lot better player than Tom Derickx have been touched up in that area by him.

Are you being serious? do you mean around the ground in ruck contests or as in general play?

Given how he kills it in the ruck, if he had an impact around the ground in general play he'd be a monty for a Brownlow.

Deadly serious & to answer your question all of the above.

He dominates ruck contests all over the ground & also provides plenty of everything a ruck should around the ground by way of linking up.

Above all though he ALWAYS gives his team an unbelievable outlet coming long out of defence. Rarely if ever beaten in an around the ground contest.

Do you think Dean Cox gives much around the ground. Because Sandi gets just as much of the ball as him would you believe (18 possessions a game).

He's a gun in every way Streak.

Except for that last when Sandilands was rag-dolled by the Gus Bus.

Sandilands might get a fair bit of it, but he doesn't hurt you with it. Cox has great foot skills for a big man and can directly set up a play because of it. The most I have ever seen Sandilands do is dish off an easy handball to a bloke running past.

Sandilands has minimal impact up forward, and is a liability in defence. Cox can play well in both areas and is a very good mark.

If I had a choice out of Clarke or Sandilands out of Freo, I'd take Clarke easily. If the choice is out of Clarke, Sandilands, Cox or Nicnat, Sandilands comes a fair way last.

If they all had the same amount of football left?

I'd go in order of preference

Cox
Nic Nat or Sandilands depending on what role I needed to fill most. Straight out ruckman, Sandilands would get the nod, but if I could afford to take the chance, Nicnat.
Clarke

Cox is an outstanding ruckman.

But think you seriously underplay Sandilands worth.

No 1 for leysy. Cox a close 2nd.

Natanui long after that.

Clarke doesnt desereve to be mentioned in the same breathe. Still has miles to go.

I like Maric's game on the weekend. He has good ruck smarts. Not as uncoordinated as some ruckman. Will give a consistent effort in the ruck. He is going to be a handy player for us this year.

If you look at the top 8 teams in the ladder they all have really good mobile ruck stocks who can drift into the fifty and kick goals as well as providing around the ground skills. apart from collingwood who make up for it with their elite midfield. West coast in particular with the obvious nic nat and cox provide so much for their midfield and their run during the game. Maric is a definite upgrade, but i think we will need to elevate elton once he gets more game time and a bit more size and i think he will be very valuable. Derrickx and Vickery are very mobile as well but they will be needed up forward.

The North rucks were rotated and were kept fresh, Maric never went off as far as I could see. Despite that Mega mullet competed hard for the whole 40 minutes, the lad has heart as well as hair.

Well put, especially about the hair.

Really liked his game on the weekend. Competed hard at the ruck contests and actually fought for the ball when it hit the ground. That short sharp pass to Miller was something Goofus couldnt do in a million years. Will never make an AA side but if he can give us Ben Hudson-type production it will improve our side lots.
