This has been coming for a long time. Management of this position has been shocking.
Time to bite the bullet this year and draft the best ruck prospect out there.
Don't need to draft a kid. Plenty of rucks around to grab from other clubs. Lots moved in last trade. More second and third rucks around itching for a go. Currie is ready made for one. Lobb. Just offer first ruck opportunity to em.
U draft a kid ruck our premiership window will close by the time he's ready

Yep. We should have at least had Leuenberger in for a medical. I was all for this so I'm interested to see how he goes.

Spot on, KLO
The Tigers need a decent ready-made ruckman ready to go than trying to cultivate and breed a young bloke.
The premiership window is seriously open for the Tigers in 2017-2018 if they indeed pull just two or three really astute draft picks at season's end that plug a couple of glaring holes in the team's structure.

Biggest blunder in the off season.
Every person can see its one of our biggest weak spots is the ruck, with Hamburger, smith & Currie
I'm shocked they didn't at least chance one of them

Doing that would admit we got it wrong.
We need to pray just to make it today.

The great Warrior Ivan was always going to be a worry this year. Hopefully just a niggle, not a sign of what's to come
Given Hampson is hopeless and Soldo raw as they come it's even more staggering we made no effort to land Zac Smith, Luenberger or even Daniel Currie during trade period. No 1st or 2nd round picks needed to do any of these deals so should have been doable.

Dan Richardson clearly stated last year that they had great faith in Hampson as the back up to Ivan.

Which is clearly delusional. Anyone who has seen Hampson play can see that; except the RFC brains trust apparently.

Yeah they either have no idea how to rate ruckman, too stubborn to admit they made a mistake with Hampson or were too soft to tread on Ivan's toes.

Not sure which is worse Chimpley.

Either way the club can't blame any injuries or woes to our ruck division this year as unlucky or unforeseen.

I actually think a ruck combo of McBean, Vickery and Griffiths would provide some good flexibility and versatility.

We are up against Kreuzer who is an around the ground beast but not a great tap ruckman. Do we combat him with McBean/Griff or do we exploit his lack of presence in the ruck and go with Hampson (but we would need someone to pick up Kruezer running forward as he can be dangerous in open play forward of centre).

how long will ivan be out for?

i'm not a hampson fan. I ridiculed him and the club as much as anyone when we drafted him. but I thought he was OK in the limited opportunities he got last year. at least he was able to compete with the monster ruckman, which is something ivan is incapable of. he's not the long term replacement, but I doubt he'll be that much less capable than ivan

Radio reports have said sore back

Makes you wonder how teams pick up injuries before the season starts. Do these players over-train (eat..) during summer or something?

Dodgy back niggle could have come from being crunched in a ruck or marking contest. Could also come from something as simple as bending down to tie up a shoe lace or picking up your tacker kid or a slab of beer the wrong way.

Spent over twenty years with a dodgy little back niggle that could throw into spasm n making walking extremely difficult, sneeze wrong, bend wrong, I could almost say fart wrong n the back can play up
Playing footy puts massive pressure onto the torso n back of players, if it's niggling there's no way they'll get through a game.

In fairness. Hampson is an exceptional ruckman. Around the ground he is a spud but his tap work is sublime. Hopefully we take advantage of first use of the ball.

Not as if Ivvy has been lighting things up of late either. Vickery/Griffiths arguably offers a much now in that role.
However what we d need a stronger aerial presence at stoppages and Hampson can do that of all things.
Fingers crossed.

You can pick up an injury anytime, anywhere. Nothing in the injury rule book says it has to happen in a match.
