Ivan Maric

I believe Maric's place and role in the season will be variable, dependant on who the Tigers are playing and how the toll of playing is impacting on the Big Fella.
Admit to being a tad concerned that this crucial position is potentially a substantial Achilles heal for the Tigers.

Griff can mark down the line.

One of his tools. If he had nailed all the easy shots a goal, he wouldn't be as far off as many think!

*Sorry, should I have posted that statement in the McJesus thread? Or Maybe the Hardnut is the worst coach ever thread?

My boy Max Gawn will have a monster year.
Seems to really have come along last year n ready to rip into things this year, reckon he'll be worth watching as a neutral footy fan.
Big Ivvy certainly looks to be in need of a strong tag team partner at this stage of his career. Needs to get his best hard arse hustle n bustle happening around the heavy contests to give the on ballers some time n space. Then will need some chop out from the more mobile leap n bound around the ground when things open up a bit.

Just the one hitout for Ivy with Griff, Vickery, Chol & Hammer getting a game in NAB 3.
Careful management or am I'm left wondering if the club is starting to see his demise as a ruckman as well..

If they have theyre a bit late to address it.

Never fear Tim. Blair and Richo have said Hammer will be able to cover.

It seems likely the club has woken up to Ivvy's demise. They might be dumb, but they're not blind.

It looks like Hammer is Option A. If he plays like he did in the second Carlton game last year (and a few other times), all good. But nine years of evidence says we can't count on him regularly getting on the park, let alone performing that well.

I want to see a combination of Griff, Ty, and at least one of Beanie or Chol. I think mobile height is going to be more important than ever. Ballistic ball movement out of defence requires marking targets running to space. We're adjusting to 2-2-B; we know we're unlikely to dominate centre clearances. So we hurt on the counter. We put athletic footballers in the ruck. We double-team the best rucks and use our extra footballer around the ground.

Would have liked us to try the Griff, Ty & Beanie/Choi option in NAB cup

Hampson great tap ruckman who gives little around the ground and can not string a month of football together due to injury

Maric great servant of the club and tremendous role model. Unfortunately not tall enough to compete with the best and his body appears to be showing the effects of a tough hard career

We need to have a backup. As not sure we can count on Hampson or Maric filling the number 1 ruck role for us all year

We gotta hope that Maric is able to stand strong this season ... otherwise the Tigers will be struggling in the ruck department in season 2016.
The stock of ruckmen at RFC is pretty thin ... hopefully the recruiters are onto this deficiency BIG time and can fill the gaping hole with a versatile ruckman who can carry the load for three to four seasons.

Tonights efforts by Hampson only exacerbated our weaknesses here.
Vickery and Griffiths are barely competitive.
At this point our season will stall because of our ruck division.
