Ivan Maric

Ivan as quoted on the RFC website.

"I want to be aggressive - really aggressive - at the ball . . . I want people to hate playing against me because of that."

Yeah bring it on big fella! Could be like the Tigers of old.

The Crows fans nailed it I reckon.

Big Eevarn is quickly becoming a crowd favorite without even attended a training session yet.

Thats all we ask for. Give us that and he will soon be a crowd favourite.

All of a sudden we have two big men in Vickery and Maric who dont mind dishing it out to the opposition.

He struggles a bit in interviews but I can't help but get excited by what he was saying. Seems ecstatic that he's a Tiger and by the sound of things he can't wait to get onto the track and show the other boys what he's capabale of.

Yeah, every footy club needs a big competitive beast that sets the tone on the track in terms of effort. And don't underestimate the impact of a big bloke with a big booming voice who loves contact. The bigger they are they, the more visable they are the more they set the tone for others. His attitude and want he wants to accomplish on the ground is exactly what we need.

Jeez we are getting a little carried away on the basis of what is essentially empty talk. Lets wait until he produces something on the field before we proclaim him as some sort of talisman

Couldn't care less what Ivan benches, don't want another Will Minson type - a big guy who talks tough and plays a physical game but is basically a hack.

Sounds like a bit of a Ben Hudson type then in regards to physical presence who held down the Doggies ruck for years.

True. Must be some questions as to why a player with such attributes played so few games this year.

Big shoulders & arms, looks like he wants to kill, aggressiveness that we need especially with our rucks, go get em IVAN

well just ask Tuck with his attributes not getting games, did towards the end but some coaches do play favourites!

Probably a combination of Craig preferring his other ruck options and the implementation of the sub rule.

I think a lot people are underestimating just how good Sam Jacobs is for a 23 year old.
Remember, Carlton had Kreuzer (gun), Warnock (bean stork who they traded heavy for with the potential to do anything if he has heart) and Shaun Hampson who was a Priority Pick the same age. Carlton's young ruck stocks were amazing and they just could not afford to pay Sam Jacobs who was out of contract what Adelaide offered. Looking back we should have been all over him because he walked for approx. $350K a year as a 22 year old and will now lead Adelaides ruck division for the next 8 years.

Adelaide promised him first crack at the Number 1 ruck spot and from there he has been excellent and shows that that trade Adelaide made was spot on. I don't understand people saying because "Ivan didn't play much this year" it is a huge negative. Well, Sam Jacobs only played half the games the year before because Kreuzer and Warnock war taking all the time and that was before the sub rule.

I have no idea if Ivan is going to be any good but the benefits for this team if he is will be substantial because we have some absolutely ripping young players.

Attributes like poor disposal you mean.

yes tucks got poor disposal but so has jackson "worse i say and got games" edwards too, mcguane, and lets not forget farmer getting games...that was the point of my post Ian "favoritism" for some players...

That’s a really good call. I think Maric will be in style exactly like Hudson. When people talk about rucks and what is required Ben Hudson is that better then average ruck who brings a physical presence to the game. Maric if anything may be a little bit more of a spring ruckman then Hudson. Hudson was a master of the push and shove body work.

If all he does is give our mid field a fair crack then he's a good pick up.

Yep, it’s about not starting a even contest expecting to lose. He doesn’t need to star, just be better then average. We didn’t break the bank to get him but it is a very important get.

Great post Juffa. Spot on. At 22 Jacobs will get much better, the Crows get him at the perfect time.

We have five years to mould another ruckman as of today.
