Ivan Maric

Shame he didn't pretend to blow a whistle and point back to the centre when iVan scored. It would have been the highlight of the year.

Both Jack and Ivan used their soccer skills to great effect, glad Ivan didn't hit the upright.

The odd thing is it was the Swan player (24) who stopped the ball dead that allowed Ivan to kick it.mi initially thought it was Jack who stopped it.

He is president of the St Albans Saints :)

The St Albans coach might wanna play his prez as a striker next week. That goal was comedy gold... as well as very cool and calm finish in a close game

I've just watched it again, i don't reckon it's conclusive. i hope it was Jack :hihi

More odd was that Ivan, the slowest player on the ground, was the first one to get there.

If the Swans hadn't been terrified of Jack kicking the goal, then one of them may have been able to stop Maric from getting there.

Beautiful moment in the game, two Sydaknee blokes take each other out while stopping Jaaack from getting the little toe poke in, so big slow lumbering Ivvy just strolls up n takes the penalty shot.
All they had to do was shuffle or whack the ball over the line instead of killing it n they panicked, must have been some of that implied pressure stuff imposed by the ghost of Stevie M.

Well technically, he was the fourth player to get there! :hihi

Funny moment.
Looks like all three players are stuck in concrete. No one moves then lvvy coolly arrives to take the Penalty and score for Croatia oops Richmond!!! :rofl

Look forward to seeing a Maric/TV/Griff 3-ruck-combo against an inexperienced ruck outfit of the Giants without Mumford.

Interesting times coming up with our list, if we do target another ruck man like Leuenburger or a Kruezer we need to promise them a senior spot straight away to get them across i think.
Ivan is still playing some good footy so i wonder which we we will go , maybe groom Vickery as the new number 1 seeing Hampson is a bust.

Unless we could somehow score a ten year dominant ruck beast, I doubt it's an absolute priority for us. Ivvy's still competitive against most rucks n we have Ty 25 y.o. Griff 23 y.o. n possibly the developing Beanster 21 y.o. who could competently play the mobile ruck forward combo roles for quite some time.
Not sure there's anyone available at present who would really make much difference to what we already have, would rather we target other areas to bolster our list.

That goal from Maric is one of the most hysterical Tiger goals I've seen for a while, probably since Richo kicked that one from the goal post against Hawthorn that he tried so hard to make a mess of with a player hanging off him.
I just love the side angle where you see Jack's face ... you can see it dawning on him that this means we've won the game.

Not sure whether Morris would have got that goal, Ivan just knew where and how to rove off Jack. Great moment :hihi

Morris would have ran straight past the ball and into the swans players

Nah, he would have tried a diving header and hit the post

When they take penalties in Soccer, they only have to contend with one goalie, Ivan had to knock it past two.

Seriously weird stuff. Why did Rampe pat the ball down and kill it when he reached down for it? Why didn't he just push it through the goals? How exactly did they both fall over? Why did Jack just get out of the way and watch? Why didn't he scramble for the goal like he normally does? Why did Ivan stop long enough to fry an egg but not think to pick it up? Why did the two Swans just lie on the ground? Where was the rest of the defence? Why was Buddy still sooking at the other end of the ground?

It was like a train-wreck that everyone could see coming but everyone was mesmerised and frozen in the moment.

I think the reason Rampe didn't push it through for a point was that there was 2 minutes to go and we were 6 points up. Any score meant they had to score twice to win.
Even a point then probably was game over
