Ivan Maric

Pyke is probably a decent match up for Maric this week, but he needs to lift.

The more athletic ruckman are making a mess of him at the moment. Can't jump, can't mark around the ground, and basically spending his days chasing blokes with the ball and not getting close anyway.

The GWS match might be the perfect time to trial Vickery as number 1 ruck, with a Riewoldt, Griffiths, McBean set up down forward. We have to look to the future - its closer than we think.

Another concern for me is the big fella just can't seem to pick the ball up below his knees.
It resulted in a NicNat goal.

But I still love the guy.

Some big cards being played here. All i know is that it's a good job we discarded the Matthew Clarke card in 1992 before he went on to play 258 dud games with Brisbane and Adelaide!!

Agree - we need to find out if this can work.

Cant agree there. Maric is actually 3rd for ruckmen in contested ball with 9 a game just behind Nicnat and Gawn who are on 9.33, As far as accumulating ball that hits the ground Maric is up there with the best ruckmen.

Tristan Cartledge deserves a mention.

I forgot about him.

I don't know about anyone else, but I always thought he would have offered us more the Gus ever did if he was given the number 1 ruck spot. I reckon he was alright in the couple of games he played for us.

Lets just see how he goes this week. Was always going to be a challenge to compete, run and nullify Nick Nat - his is good form and isa freak when on song. From here on he played against more traditional ruck men. He was not alone Friday night, there was collective group down on their last month output. Yes we nee to plan for season ahead but no matter who rucked on Friday night NN would have pants them all.
