Early prognosis

After a gradual shortening of the injury list, it's jumped out again at Punt Road. Hopper has suffered a strain to the soleus portion of his calf, which is in the lower portion of the leg. Soldo was a test last week, but has been bumped back out to a medium-term return as he battles a plantar fasciitis issue. Gibcus was poised to make a VFL return over the weekend, but suffered a setback to a different spot in his hamstring on Friday. – Sarah Black

Early prognosis

The injuries are piling up again at Essendon. The Bombers will be hoping to regain Ridley after he missed the trip to Brisbane, but Kelly will be sidelined for at least another week. Parish will miss weeks with his calf injury, while Guelfi, Cox and Tsatas are all inching closer to fitness. – Dejan Kalinic

Both sides under the injury pump - who is hit hardest, hard to tell as I don’t know many of the young Essendon players.

Tonight's news claimed they'd lost another mid to injury for this weeks game. :)) As it's Essendrugs n we're playing them this week, the more injuries they have the better I like it.
Been a strange old start to the season this year, there's been a few clubs carrying massive injury issues already, while other clubs appear to be kissed on the todger as far as injuries go. Hopefully maybe things will level up n even out during the second half of the year.

What gets me, Kaleb Smith injured in February, 6-8 week timeline. Still injured now, 7-12 week timeline.
Soldo, had played one practice game between July 2022 and his afl game back April 2023, then back out with the same injury.
Seth Campbell, back for what 1 vfl game then back out the with same injury.
MJ, apparently short term hammy. 3 weeks later he’s still 1-3 weeks away.
Collina, still indefinite, why is he still on the list.
Tom brown, missed how many weeks then they opted for surgery.

I’ll be gobsmacked if there’s not sweeping changes to our physical performance department at years end.

I think it's the medical department not doing their job properly in the first place.
Correct diagnosis and monitoring by medical professionals for all injured players.
Duty of care is the professional responsibility of the club.
It would be easy to fix the problem. Tighten up this area.

do you really think we should delist a cat B guy, who we cant replace in the middle of the season when he is injured? we would end up paying him anyway and having to pay his rehab, which would just cost us more.

Pretty sure cat b rookies are still outside the salary cap. If they were included within I doubt many would take the plunge in the first place hence the incentive to keep it as is

I think Brodders point is that there is no benefit in delisting early.
It will still be a cost and he cant be replaced anyway.
So where is the advantage in cutting someone before we have a list change?

Its good to see a number of posters using their lack of information and lack of medical knowledge to make assessments on the club's competency.

Looking from the outside without knowing specifics or having expertise should never be a reason not to cast judgement

On Brown I think they missed a displaced scaphoid fracture, which is surgery for correction. had it been identified at the time he would've had it attended to I'm sure.

I dont know if Moju has any history of Hamstring injuries, so he wont have experience to refer back to so will be brought along slowly especially due to all the hard chasing and repeat sprint efforts that being a pressure forward demand.

Colina has a stuffed back and could be rooted.

I didn’t say we should delist him now, but He should have never been on the list this year, category B or not.
He was contracted when he didn’t even live in the country.
