Injury Report - Season 2023

He needs to go Luke Meehan, he has been an utter disaster. They need to widen their search for a highly credentialled high-performance manager.

Incredibly underwhelming debut.

Absolutely nothing has gone right this year.

Substandard fitness, mounting injury list and long time frames on players returning from injury.

we've been lied to consistently all season.
They don't know.
We have always struggled with players coming back from long lay-offs.
They give a bullshiit number and if they get back all good but if they don't they just increased it
Cibcus was only 4 weeks when he 1st got injured.
Today its 13 weeks.
Hopper was 3-4 weeks, he has missed 2 weeks and now it's still 4-6 weeks away.
lynch was always going to be a long lay off. They will call his season after the bye.
They brought Soldo back for the GC game and he couldn't even walk the boundary.

Now Hardwick is Gone.
Use 80% of his wage to find the best fitness and strength person in the world.
I'm fken devastated that a club like Richmond with so much cash couldn't get Burguess to come over.

Don't worry about what coach we get. If we don't update our fitness bloke, get ready to see unprepared and unfit players in round 1 next year.

I can handle losing games but I can't handle footballers on 500k a year coming into a season looking like Norm.

Rioli needs to get super fit over the summer or delist him.

Should have money in the soft cap with Dimma pulling up stumps. If we go with a new up and commer we should have a spare 300-400k to play around with. Its critical we get this right

It's funny, last year when Burge was running our fitness regime people were saying he's useless & we won't miss him etc etc. He's now at the Hawks who only have 6 on their injury list, 2 are calf injuries & 1 is a hammy.

Meehan was Burge's 2ic, he must have learnt a bit about the caper.

He pulled a hammy 3,-4 weeker.
He reinjured it again and then he got infection.
He should be back by round 4 next year
Gibcus was never a 3-4 weeker initially! He damaged the tendon Zips - the club always said it was a long term injury that needed surgery. Typical recovery was 12-15 weeks from his original injury, then he got an infection, then he re-injured the hammy.

Dimma got lazy on the players and didn't push the fitness guys to work the players hard and get them mega fit. That there was a focus on doing their running within the ball drills is something part time players do at VFL level and below due to limited amount of time available to train. Specific running training is critical. And the preseason camp was a total joke. The footballs never came out once....WTF is that? I get that these camps are alot about team bonding but to spend a full week away and never do any specific football or fitness training is ridiculous.
That's why my hope is we have a complete break away from the Dimma era and start again with a new coach, new assistants and new head of fitness.

Sadly, I'll agree with this. Lazy/Light training is one way I've noticed it on the videos they upload.

Well, should at least save @200K+ on the new coach as Dimma was on top level $ undestandably after 3 flags. savings must be well used!

Apologies, I've just posted similar; should have read further ahead - as I usually do. :(

I’ve heard the club is paying out his contract for 2023.
Whilst I think it’s a noble gesture, I also think it shows RFC have become too soft.
Dimma was rightly on top dollar but chose to leave mid season. I wouldn’t be paying him for the remainder of the season regardless how long he’s been there. Many ways to honour a legend but giving money away is financially irresponsible. That money could go towards the Punt Rd redevelopment and you could call the new building the Damian Hardwick wing.

Again I agree fully with you. (Not sure what's going on there) Sure, maybe a few extra K in thanks and recognition of how his early quit allows us extra time on any other clubs changing coaches at the season's end ,,, but the whole $500K? Seems wasteful. It was still entirely his decision and he's earned a heap over his long career really.

Any chance of an injury update video? Letting us members know how the rehab of crucial players is going.. wouldn’t hurt.
