Hardwick

Bloody idiot. You could see what was coming hours before. You didn't have to be a full time employee to pick up on the deficiencies.

Nothing surprising in tonight's result. Just proved that the changes were bizarre and not based on any analysis of the opposition.
Here's hoping Dimma doesn't revert back to his former self re dud selections.
Time will tell.

Hardwicks obsession with dotting his “i” and crossing his “t’s” at every press conference is indicative of his mechanical approach to coaching – completely process driven and deaf to the idea of making changes on game day.

It begins with the coaching staff but referring to every loss as a failure of systems does my head in. What was on display against the Magpies was a mentally weak side and that reality has reared its ugly head again with this playing group. Which one of Hardwicks systems addresses that perineal problem at the Tigers?

As for the selections for this game; if favoritism was shown at the selection table, clearly it was a miserable failure. I hope Balme pulls the coach aside and says simply, “never again” Play fit players on merit (he didn’t do that in the PF last year) and last night’s result looked like the same train wreck.

And during training this coming week instead of that feely, touchy crap the club has pandered far too much in recent times, a few swift kicks up the arses are in order. What the f^$#@$k was Martin thinking with that shot on goal that ended up a goal for them?

Made a good move in the last Q last week when Jack Graham went into defence after Rance went down. Turned the game.

No coach can work miracles when their players aren't doing the work though.
This group needs a bit of a rocket at the selection table. 2017 is old news.
No doubt some of the blame lays at Hardwicks feet for not counter acting Collingwoods game plan but you are right TOO, some players have been drinking their own bath water.

35 tackles for a game of football!! Thats inexcusable!!

Dimma is a system coach. He won't change on game day if it isn't working. It worked well for two years but Buckely has pulled the system apart. Can he adapt?

Hardwick has had 6mths to come up with a plan B after the prelim and had nothing. Been on the p155 all Summer clearly

Folks need to understand how we roll out. It’s a system based on months and months of defensive drilling.

You can’t change things up during a game. You can move personnel but the system is necessarily second nature. It’s what has won us so many games.

The only thing we could conceivably do when teams play kick to kick is push up and force the long kick. Risky, yes, but it would allow us to do what we do best - hunt and spread.

Im not sure why we continue to bomb to contests, time after time it just shows no care with the ball by doing this. The pies were eating us up every time we did it. Bucks must of been thinking all his birthdays had come at once as Richmond kept putting it down their throats the whole game. Bucks outsmarted dimma, came in with the keeping's off game plan, plus utilized their skills to the maximum.. They literally toyed with us.

It looks like we bomb it but we’re kicking it to our only tall forward Lynch who had 3 defenders to contend with every time
It’s Dimmas fault we went into the game short

Lets be honest. Hardwick is not going to reinvent the wheel. He is a simple coach that knows how to play footy one way. Keep the ball going forward at all time evident by our constant bombing into the fwd 50 even when we are outnumbered or handballs to no one in particular and pressure, pressure, pressure. That is it. When the players don't bring the pressure it all falls apart as we saw last year and have seen the first 2 weeks. Problem is, to keep this sort of game plan working you need to have major player overhauls each year to bring in hungry players ready to give everything to achieve the ultimate goal. You cannot keep the same list and expect the same results with a game plan that is so taxing. The other issue is that they have recruited players for that game plan. Sraggers and battlers. When these types don't bring the pressure it means they don't have the required skills or smarts to execute any other plan.

Personally, i thank Dimma for the flag but i think it's time to move him on. This years recruitment seems to show we are starting to recruit the right way.

To build a dynasty you need to keep reinventing yourself and i just see it in Dimma.

Seems to me it's as simple as going from zoning to going man on man. They've been doing it for 50 years in basketball.

If guys like Sidebottom, Pendulbruy, Treloar annd Crisp are getting too much uncontrested possession, why not just play them closer.

U 14 coaches get their kids to do it all the time. Why can't we do it with proffessional adults.

Dimma is under as much scrutiny as anybody. He'll always be a premiership coach & for that I'll be eternally in debt but you've also got to keep growing as a coach in this caper. Otherwise someone else with fresh ideas will take your job. That sounds pretty extreme but it's a ruthless business & time stands still for nobody. Hardwick's got to evolve & show he's capable of plan B & C..

So basically bomb it to Richo evolved to bomb it to Jack, now its bomb it to Lynch. Sprinkle in a little (lot) of good honest "try'ers" who cant kick to a target and let you star midfielder do as he pleases.

Agree, the worst indictment on us last night was that Chris Mayne got a heap of the ball....... seriously!!!!!

I don't think Buckley has pulled apart anything. He showed for years he was a useless coach. They kept him on at the start of 2018 and put some new coaches around him (sound familiar?). I reckon it's one of these new coaches that is the tactical genius behind Buckley not Buckley himself. My money is on Buddha Hocking or Justin Longmuir.

Agreed. Always a staunch supporter of Dimma even in 2016 when most were calling for his head.

Results industry. The whole coaching group needs to do better.

A premiership doesn't give a coach lifelong immunity.

Is the 2016 Hardwick re-emerging?

Blames the players for the loss and says he can fix the tackling problem this week at training.???????????????????

He was sitting on the bench talking to the players face to face during the game so what was wrong instructing the players as to their tackling issues on the day?

Thursday night was disappointing,

And I suspect with the injuries we are in for more immediate pain ,

I think dimma himself should be judged at the end of the year , it’s round 2 ,

I still think this team and coaching staff are capable of turning this around

There’s little doubt the head coach is always under the most scrutiny, the thing with Dimma though is it’s less then 30 games since he won us a flag and I think it’s 19 an 6 since then, no doubt Dimma an co are up for some real challenges without Rance and Jack and he may even have to come up with plans d an E to have us maintain success .

I think Dimma has enough credits in the bank at this stage before been harshly judged on his selections and game plan against the Pies. 20 weeks to go
