Goodbye Mabior Chol

Seems to lack the main ingredients for a tall - reading the flight of the ball and positioning. It's why Garthwaite will make it and some others won't.

Last week's VFL Report...
"Mabior Chol - Five disposals, three marks, two tackles, one goal.
Had a game where he didn’t show as many strengths as we would have liked. We’re aiming to get more from him, and he’s working towards getting the best out of himself."

In his second year so where's Mabs at?
Contract up at end of this year, is he worth keeping?
Has issues (marking judgement, desire for the contest) or maybe he just doesn't have enough to work with?
Doesn't sound like he wants to be an AFL player with those stats...unless some personal issue affected his game?

Why does it always need to be "personel issues" when they arent playing well?
They might be not any good to start with.
Our record of developing kids is dreadful. I wouldnt be surprised if he is let go

Sadly he cant find the ball, Spectates and day dreams.

When everyone got excited about his preseason form last year he had disposal tallies of 4 4 and 5 in his three games.

If the switch goes off he has all the tools agility, athleticism, good hands, neat skills, strong body.

Don't know how to fix him though. Hypnotism?

Ruck or CHB. Ruck forces him into contest after contest, CHB allows him to follow a good player to the ball and use his athletic gifts from there. I'd leave him at CHB for the rest of the year.

No, like Dyer're, I think play him in the ruck. They seem to have tried him down back, but he gives up goals I'd say, because he does not read the incoming ball well, and gets bent over by a quality big CHF. The VFL still need and want to win; and we supporters expect them to go flat out too.

In the ruck, he is made continually accountable; he has to toughen up against a big brute, and learn to run hard, work hard or be totally embarrassed, letting the team down.

Could he hope to ever match Elton's 6 possessions & 3 mark game?

Soldo needs to play in the ruck. Chol can relieve him.

CHB in my opinion.

It's all he's got left. He's not a forward.

He's looking like another bust but I'm sure we,ll give him a few more years.

He's not looking like anything other than a second-year tall who was taken in the second round of the rookie draft.

It is a little staggering that they played him in all those 3 pre-season games.

Goes up with one arm in marking contests and is dead set lazy and as others have said, spectates. Add his lack of tank also.

Might have the athleticism but he's not going to make it.

Lazy bum IMO.

Elton, Chol, Maric and Hampson all gone at the end of the year.

Yep, and the success rate of talls from the second round of the rookie draft say he,ll be a bust.

Hampson got at least a 2 yr deal, so he's on the list next year unless he retires.

Hampson true has another year and with Maric retiring at seasons end will be kept on the list.

Chol of the games I've seen live and on TV he has a bad habit of going up one handed. That has to be fixed if he wants to make it.

Would give him another year but he would have to improve his tank, intensity and work rate if he wants to make it.

Lastly he also had a habit of spectating ! Can these things be worked on and improve? Yes. Does he want to be an AFL player?

Being an athlete or have athletic abilities isn't enough.

We have to stop recruiting these types!

Bring Soldo in for Elton and ruck Chol in the VFL for the rest of the season, with Ivan to give him a chop out.

tend to agree.

If its a choice between a bloke who will run all day (elton) and have 6 possessions, or a monster who is snakey and will squash people (Soldo) and have 6 possessions, I'll take the monster

Sando showed that just 1 judicious squashing can win matches. But then again, Hill showed that running all day can too.

but yeah, get games into Soldo

Exactly. Hes a speculative project player who was always long odds to make it.
