Goodbye Mabior Chol

Looks like I am Chol's one and only fan.

People are stuck on what he can do in the ruck. He provides more than that.

I am not suggesting Chol is Natanui but he gives us that added flexibility up forward as well.
I think some people are stuck on what he could do, rather than what he actually does.
Chol would be lucky to be in the top 35 on our list, but because he is the last remaining player over 195cm he is in contention to get a game, at the expense of somebody like Caddy or Aarts, who have shown they can impact the game every time they play.

He gives the impression he doesn't want to be a ruckman, so if he wants to be a forward he should try to get "forward" of his opponent, instead of playing from behind. On the occasions when he is in front he lets his opponent get around him way to easily.
I'd say he copped a rocket at half time as he was better in a couple of contests. He needs to show that urgency all the time.
It's not a hard fix.

Did anybody see Aliir Aliir from swans in ruck gives a contest and does well that's all Chol has to do.
The issue is Chol never has demonstrated that in the ruck consistently in one game to date. Which is why he shouldn't be considered a ruckman. With that said it would be selection suicide to play him in a final. Dimma has proven in the past if he's not convinced of a player's application in a role he won't play them and as such will opt for one that's not in the traditional mould of that specific position (see 2017 premiership both Key Forward and second ruck)

Need to plan now for the second final.
Prestia will be included, but is a risk and he could easily be injured early in the game again.

Can we afford to have that happen, and Chol having an invisible game so we are effectively two short?

Rather have Caddy/Ross/Aarts in place of Chol who are all versatile and will contribute, even if it is only by applying pressure at the very least.

Sorry Chol, you ran out of time this year, hopefully next year you can develop consistency.

OK, fire away at this suggestion but think Noah stays down back and Lynch stays up front so.....

give McIntosh a run in the ruck if we get desperate.

Good build, strength and great endurance. Good leap, and enough height to at least make a contest.

Reasonable suggestion. Also strengthens Caddy's case to take a run on the wing or to help in the ruck.

All this because the AFL hasn't stopped Hawkins from pushing player's into on coming traffic
Soldo would've been playing and chol wouldn't even be part of the conversation.
Just imagine if Hawkin's push had caused NitNat or Grundy the same injury.
There would've been a royal communism.
Healy would've called for sackings.

With you 100% Mabs isn’t a second ruck and doesn’t Deserve a game so we should keep playing to our strengths.
Agree. Mabs last game was no where near AFL standard. Couldn't possibly be picked after turning that in.

I took a further look at Mabs' game to see whether my description of insipid was fair.

1. He doesn't seem to like body contact
2. Easily outbodied by key defenders. Talia (and Hartigan) had his measure
4. Plays too much from behind (maybe because of #1 or #2)
3. Reactive. Doesn't create plays, responds to what others do up field. Doesn't lead, waits to see where they will kick it.
5. Slow to pick up the ball flight.

As we all know he can mark and is a beautiful kick, but ...............

I'd rather keep Caddy in as a forward/ruck. He'll compete.

Pickett is my guess for CBs, with Lynch and Jack helping for ball ups in the front half and prob Dave or Balta taking them deep in defence.

Sounds reasonable. Probably not a lot for a second ruck to do. Nank likes being on the ground as much as he can. Short quarters help him ( and us)

Brodders my only concern is allowing our key forward/backs taking the ball ups . Fear of an injury and taking them away from their position of strength.

Long time supporter but his failure to respond to especially this last opportunity, has turned me to a doubter.
IF he is given another chance I'd say it could only be on a wing forward flank where maybe is height and speed would get him over the line. His kicking as always remains elite.

Pickett? At 184cm?

Don't think so. In any case Pickett is doing very well on the wing and we shouldn't shift him from a position he is making his own.

I just cant trust him after last week.... I just cant.

Leave Ross or Aarts in or Bring in Broad as a defender and let Balta chop out Nank with Dave still back in the defensive 50.

Caddy as second banana ala 17/18.

Yep his last 3 games 11 disposals, 3 marks, 5 tackles, 12 hitouts all against very average opposition. How would he go in a finals type pressure game? Is making me nervous just thinking about it.

Reckon he would have got a rocket after crows game.Do people believe tho him going into his more normal role chopping out in ruck and part time forward he is much better I know stats still low , but played best footy there.

Hopefully he has been able to focus on very clear and simple directions following cows game.

I think that's a bit unfair.
He has had some very good games where he does attack the ball, 2nd efforts etc. but the problem is he's been inconsistent & that's where the unreliability stems from. Lets hope last week was an off game as he found his way back into the side.
