Goodbye Mabior Chol

Hes accumulated 59 possessions from his 10 games so far this season. So less than 6 touches a game. He’s accumulated 57 Hit Outs, so less than 6 a game. He’s taken a total of 12 marks (only 4 contested) so just a tick over 1 Mark a game. He’s kicked 8 goals so less than 1 per game. His best game so far this season was against North. He’s shown glimpses this season but overall has been pretty average.

Looks like I am Chol's one and only fan.

People are stuck on what he can do in the ruck. He provides more than that.

I am not suggesting Chol is Natanui but he gives us that added flexibility up forward as well.
Man I'm with you. I love the guy, he could be anything. But what we saw last game was insipid. You can make excuses about many things but lack of effort is not one (unless he was sick :p ). Maybe he was sick?

With no Lynch we keep him for structure, simple as that. He's been saved by Dimma's system.

Hope he can step up!

He played alright against brisbane during the home and qld.
Ignore the stats and games in dead rubbers.
Lets see what he does in a serious final

I’d go with Caddy as a forward before Chol. Caddy is a proven goal kicker in big finals. The fact that it’s likely to be slippery makes it a no brainer. We

With respect, stats don't matter one iota if he's playing the role he's asked to that helps our structure. He's a role player. We have plenty of them.
Sometimes that’s true but don’t think so in a Mabs case.
What role do you think he’s playing that ends up with him averaging such low stats?

When he's playing well his main job is to bring the ball to ground & follow up. Also keep a key defender honest. No stats necessarily for that.

We,ll agree to disagree Oldie. I think a good forward can do these basics but also acquire more than average of 6 disposals and 1 mark a game.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Mabs, he’s got some tools to be a very good footballer. We just don’t see enough of them.

Reckon he would have got a rocket after crows game.

I think he got a rocket at half time too. Dimma said as much on 360 last night, saying that he was poor in the 1st half against the Crows.
On a fast forward entry when he is one out he is hard to beat, it's when the forward line is congested that he struggles.
He just needs to halve more contests, which I thought he did a couple of times in the 2nd half against the Crows.

So what you're saying, is he's basically the same as the all Australian ruckman?

We need 22 competitors on Friday night. At this stage in his career, Mabs doesn’t compete anywhere near hard enough.

I dont think we have an alternate option with Lynch out.

Happy for Caddy to remain as well, subject to his knee being OK.

Chol had been serviceable in most of his games this year. Against the Crows he was ordinary. We just need him to compete when relieving in the ruck & be on the move using his athleticism up forward. If he can drag his defender around less chance of Jack being double teamed & Chol seems to be more dangerous when he is on the move & not getting into one on one wrestles.

It's a good point. it was probably his best game of the season before he got a knock.
Interestingly it was after that game that Riminton also highlighted the change room antics..
I thought he played well against Port following that. Especially after being in the media all week.
