Goodbye Mabior Chol

If Mabs keeps his place, he needs to MOVE. Can't stand there waiting to see where the ball gets kicked.

Get off your opponent. You can't out body them. Move around. Make a lead. Just move.

If the ball does get bombed in, halve the contest.

Good luck young fella. You can do this.

Yep agree needs to stay involved sitting them as a permanent forward he looks lost for long periods.

When he's playing well his main job is to bring the ball to ground & follow up. Also keep a key defender honest. No stats necessarily for that.

Clearly that hasn't been happening. He's just not in at all. I summarised his involvement including being in a contest to effect a ground ball and there were 2-3 occasions at most. He's a liability and finals pressure isn't going to make his task easier. I can't see how he plays after last few games. If we play him it's desperation, maybe that's the case, in which case I'm concerned.

Exactly. Watch how Reiwoldt continually moves. Chol simply doesn't do that. In fairness he probably doesn't have the awareness that Reiwoldt has so loses his place and flight of the ball.

We need 22 competitors on Friday night. At this stage in his career, Mabs doesn’t compete anywhere near hard enough.
You are correct F. However, he clearly has a lot of confidence within himself (made some comments about him being looked up to like a LeBron:)). Reckon Dimma backs him in again and if he doesn't produce results then his value goes down internally and we will move on if he does not accept low pay. Will still be good trade bait for a club like Essendon. I hope he plays and has a great game.

Agree 100%, however don't think Dimma does based on his comments Monday night.

Not that it means anything but was speaking to an Essendon supporting acquaintance (and local footy coach) when Lynch first got hurt and said 'can play Chol' and he said "couldn't play him in a final, doesn't compete hard enough. I'd direct my players to play through his opponent.'

Like above agreed with him 100%. If Mabs plays I hope he smashes it, I just don't think he can. Time will tell...

If he's picked, he'll know this performance can make or break him as a footballer. The question is whether he's the sort of person who that can turn that mental pressure into a positive or negative force.

Very difficult decision coming up for match committee. I understand that we need him for structure, and chop out for nank, but if we select him, and he doesn’t compete again, he becomes a weak link, and all you need is one weak link to cost us the game.

Especially in a final.
This game is huge.
Not only for us for a passage to a PF but for Chols career & future.

Can make a name for himself or he becomes an unfulfilled talent.

I trust Dimma & the MC.
These two weeks they would have seen him train & apply himself after that poor first half against Adelaide.
They will have the best insights, more than us and if they go with him I will be watching him closely how he applies himself.

Good luck kid.

Assuming he plays, I expect Andrews will play on (and off) him and try to dominate on intercept. If so Chol's job will be to get dangerous enough that Andrews has to worry about him, but also keep Andrews out of the way. and compete when the ball comes to them.

If Andrews picks him up, he needs to really work over his hamstrings, run him around, bump the hammy in contests.

Start by playing in front at all costs.
Exactly. That’s what we want.
Cant play Andrews from behind. our smalls to be ready for that Andrews punch ( which he often does) and score from those opportunities.
Chol can’t allow him easy intercepts.

My gut feel is Jack will play deeper when Dusty isn’t at FF and Andrews will go to him.
Chol has to move. Present. Not be stagnant whoever lines up on him or where he plays.
Contest in the ruck to & follow up ...

We don't need a wiggle tommorow night.
So its time to Wake up Cholly.

Nank’s effort and competitiveness is unconditional. And they are the first things he brings to every game. He should look and learn.

Chol does not read the ball well in flight.
He’s a lead and mark forward.
Doesn’t matter if his starting position is in front as Andrews will beat him to the drop due to superior judgement,
Chol needs to be on the move. Leading out hard, doubling back and going again. It’s then up to the ball carrier to hit him up and for him to mark it.
I’m very sceptical myself. He doesn’t play as a true tall forward.
I’d prefer Caddy. He can play tall with his aerial ability
