Goodbye Mabior Chol

I do Id be prepared to go with a chop out ruck as they will offer more at ground level than Chol.

We won a Grand Final with a chop out ruck no reason we cant do it again.

Balta as a chop out ruck is better than Chol especially physically as her at least competes hard in the contest and at ground level.

We need to rucks that's the way to go no matter what.

Do people think the role Chol played early in the year with Soldo suits him better I do , relief ruck and then pushing up the ground not a permanent forward like yesterday.

That's what he did most of 2nd half. Wasn't much chop.

We may be using ruck term loosely but if it's loosely defined as a player taller than 197cm, we have Soldo (done), Chol (likely done), CCJ (done), Lynch (won't be doing that) and Nanks.

All I would like Chol to do is
1) Run with and spoil to stop opposition ruck marks - let the opponent drag him to the contest.
2) When forward in a contested mark situation forget about marking it just don't get pushed out, effect the contest - bring the ball to ground.

These seem like simpler instructions for him to manage. Perhaps he can write them on his wrist tape.

He course-corrected in the second half. At least broke even, which is what our game plan demands.

Still needs to fight harder for front position and that first half was trash.

Put him on notice but keep him for the Bears. No other choice.
The thing with Chol he has little awareness and at times interest. Late in the 4th quarter yesterday all the Tigers were running to the ball where as Chol just strolled and a couple of times got out his deckchair and watched . No ways can we risk that in the QF

He’s like a bored millionaire after a trip to Bunnings. He has all the tools, but no real desire to use them.

Reckon you're wrong and we will.
I cant see us making a fundamental change to the way we play in the first week of the finals.
We have been happy to concede clearances, both in the centre and around the ground, then win the ball back with our backline intercepting.
I cannot see us then moving one of our best intercept markers to play a position he hasnt played for over a year, weakening our backline, and not necessarily making us stronger at clearances.

also, if we arent willing to ruck Lynch or Jack for fear of injury, would we be willing to risk the future full back of the century?

having said that, if we do play 1 ruck and things dont go well then maybe we will change things up mid game.

I'm actually as annoyed at Chol as I am CCJ and Stacky. The club needs him to stand up and the effort just isn't there. We don't have anyone else. Is he one of those lazy kids in life that always has an excuse for why they can't or didn't do something?

We have a real selection dilemma for week 1. Chol proved on Saturday that he’s not quite ready. Astbury was pretty solid. The logical conclusion is to drop Chol and play Balta as second ruck. But Balta hasn’t played that role for over 12 months and its risky going into a final. Plus, if were playing Port, he’s the obvious match up for Dixon.

Then we have Lynch, Bolton, and probably Prestia coming in. If Chol is dropped, we still need to find 2 more outs. Ross is the obvious one. That leaves Caddy and Pickett fighting for the last spot. Caddy was solid on Saturday night and Picket was rubbish. But Picket has been reasonable over the past couple of months. I lean towards dropping Caddy.

Caddy reminded everyone just how smart he is.
Field kicking to advantage elite. Overhead marking for his size is elite.
Body work and positioning very good. And a proven big game player.
A braver person than me would leave him out.
No way Chol keeps him out as the 3rd tall if we choose to play one

Yeah, exactly. And can play wing and iron out a few blokes as well. Just leaves us exposed with Nank as the single ruck.
