Golf

Played there a couple of times and was underwhelmed. Young guy called Chris Thorn was a trainee there I think, played with him once, my god he could play. Smash it 300m off the tee, could chip and putt. But didn't have the mental game. Did make the cut at Huntingdale in a PGA tournament and shot one of the lower Sat rounds but just didnt want it enough. But could hit it longer than anyone I ever played with
Sam Groth is the longest I’ve seen , by a fair bit . Seen him fly it pin high on the 9th on Gunamatta, also put it within 15 of the green on 9 of the Old

Kind of agree, when Huntingdale built that monster clubhouse, I was kind of...wtf, fix the course first

Another rant from me. Who are these clowns that rate golf courses?
Lonsdale at 19!!! It's just over 5200m

2024 PRE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP !

And here it is. The final PRE Major of the year - the PRE Open Championship from Old Tooon Troon. (Another scene of a Greg Norman disaster). Some say this is the biggest and the best. Quite possibly.

Anyway, good course Royal Troon. Should be a good Open.

What about me 'ole mate Moopsgomerie. Dunno if I can see the old boy go another year without winning a major and then having to wait 8 months to have another crack. C'mon Moops....find something ! MD has had a good year. The one to beat imo. Suspect angle ankle will turn up as well.

Right. Lets get it on again for the final time this year. The rules again:

Pick eight players with a combined price of 350 or under. Best six scores are counted EACH DAY and added up for a daily team score. The daily team scores are then added up each day to provide a rolling leaderboard with the lowest total at the end of 4 days being the winner (Redford P. Reds).

Any players in your team that don’t make the cut are given a daily score of field average plus two.

In the event of a tie, the lowest final round team score wins.

Any WDs will be subbed by the player immediately below your WD.

Entries close Thursday July 18 at 5.30 pm when the first group goes off.

Anybody is welcome to play. Good luck and may the best Redford win. Hoots mon !

Gee I reckon Scott has been ripped off, McIntyre gets a free drop at the 16th from thick rough because when he took his practice swing he felt something underfoot. Apparently an old sprinkler head on his stance. Get's the free drop, moves it out of thick rough onto a decent lie and sticks it to 5 feet and nails an eagle. Would have been pitching out to the fairway otherwise.

Luck or unfair?

Pro's have been taking advantage of the rules for years. Sometimes you are on the receiving end of someone's good luck, other times it is to your benefit.

Scott has no one to blame but himself. Should have been in a play off at least. His chipping on the 7th, or was it the 8th, was awful stuff.

Yeah agree Moops. The rules favoured him. That's not always the case in golf. Fair play I say. And Scott hit some absolutely rank iron shots. The 1st and 15th. The chip on 15 was a yip too.

I'm glad Mull of MacIntyre won. It's his national championship and he was pipped at the post in dramatic circumstances last year. Hoots mon !

Scott hit some great shots he failed to capitalise on too.

4 iron to about 3 feet on the front nine then missed the putt was costly too.

MacIntyre was spluttering along all round then got hot when it counted.

Morikawa, Aberg and Scott just had moments of madness that cost them in the end.

Good tournament, bring on the BO!

Made the cut at his two BO appearances. Played well in the Scottish Open. Top ten at his last 2 events.

1st at Pebble/2nd at the Arnie Palmer & The Players in 2024. Generally loves the big tournaments.

mmmmm may make a change because that is probably crazy value.

Who's gonna select the Great Hutsby though, that is the question !
