Like I said, slow play on the PGA Tour is endemic. Fitzpatrick has a crack now as well.

Fitzpatrick would be one of the quickest players going around, so can understand his frustration.

Hit up on em I say
Last night I went and played a few holes at my club. 3 guys were about to go off on the 1st tee so I walked 100 yards to the practice green for a while to let them get well ahead of me. I spent 15 minutes on the practice green.

I go back to the 1st tee, hit off and I’m almost at my ball on the 1st fairway when I see these plodding clowns walking off the front of the 2nd tee. Ffs…that’s nearly 20 minutes I’ve given them and they’ve only played one hole. That would equate to something like a 5 hour 30 minute round in a group of 3 if they kept that pace up.

I finished on the 1st hitting all manner of practice putts etc, hit 2 balls off the 2nd, dawdled down to both of them, and of course I’m waiting for them on the 2nd green.

I watched them on the green and then the 3rd tee, and they stood around taking practice swing after practice swing, talking to each other, standing around when it was someone’s turn to hit. And when they did hit it, they duffed it. And dawdled off after their ball to go through it all again. Unbearable.

I had to get off the course and see if I could cut across to another hole. There was a guy behind me who could see what was going on and he did the same.

Our club is absolutely riddled with slow, unaware morons like this.

I wonder if it is the fat they take their cues from the pros? Other than the hitting good shots part.

It's an absolute blight on club golf. I've always preferred to play early tee times because those guys are the ones that don't dawdle around the course. And it's not ability that determines speed of play. As a kid i used to play with dad and a couple of older guys. They were all 20+ handicappers but we got around in under 4 hours every time. They didn't *smile* around having 20 practice swings, mark 2 foot putts, walk up and back to greens for chips etc etc. They walked to their ball and didn't wander the fairways chatting. As they walked to their ball they had a plan of what they were going to do. And they picked up when they were out of the hole (obviously other than stroke events) rather than selfishly continue. A mate of mine always plays holes out despite really knowing he has used his shots. I often tell him he's out to make him pick up. Slow players developed a reputation at my club growing up and no one wanted to either play with them or be caught behind them.

Perhaps it is associated with the rise in the individual & self-importance in some way?

Had a bet on Leishman, got a hunch that the Leish is gunna get off the leash, should be paying more than $29 the win & $6 for the top five, ****en bookies.

Absolutely it’s a blight MD.

I think it’s your last paragraph that is a key contributor. These people that we’re talking about, I’m sure, are the same people you see on the roads that sit at the traffic lights on a green for an eternity, wander all over the road, drive in the overtaking lane blocking people, have no idea where they’re going, make dangerous last minute decisions, bingle into everything and anything, are distracted etc etc. People completely in their own little, personal, world.

Last night I saw another inconsiderate bozo (a repeat offender that I see at our club) hit 5 practice balls off the fairway to a green. 5. With someone behind him waiting. Practice swings on every one of the 5 he hit. Unreal. A total fwiit.

That’s a good point you mention re handicaps and playing in the morning. Handicaps have nothing to do with slow play if you’re switched on and know how to move about on a course. I haven’t played comp golf in years, but if I was to start up again, yep I’d do it in the morning. I usually like to hang around after a round and have a beer, but morning players usually have something to do in the afternoon and as a result like to play a bit quicker and get going after. I’d sacrifice the social side of things to not play a 5 hour afternoon round in amongst a bunch of morons.

Shotgun start at 1015, channel 7 have their 1st commercial at 10 ****en 17 !!!!
Shotgun start is really annoying ie what does the leaderboard actually mean when you’ve got different guys going off on different parts of the course.

And does anyone really give a *smile* about these corny teams and their cheesy names and logos ? Who cares.

LIV is very junky and disjointed.

Agree, it's the first time I've ever watched it.

And their scoreboard/leaderboard. More junky and disjointed stuff. It’s all over the place.

Any decent pro golf in Australia is good, and yes the PGA Tour hasn’t done Australia any favours (albeit Golf Australia and the Australian PGA Tour have contributed to that) but the PGA Tour for a stack of reasons is still a much better product in my mind.

S J Kim is 8 over after 12 at the Grange.
While walking to the 13th tee he asked his caddy if he can see anything obvious that he was doing wrong. His caddy said you've been slicing your driver every hole, there's a piece of sh!t on the end of it. He wiped his driver, and his caddy said, no, not that end.
