GOAT Day thread - TIGERS Vs wees & poos hawkers

Worst game since Hafey passed away in terms of significant importance to our club.

We were flat and lacked any ability to break the lines.

A part from Taranto our midfield was smashed. The non-inclusion of Mcauliffe baffles me and the persistence of Dow.

I haven't read this whole thread so unsure if already discussed, but mid way through the 1st a hawks player handballs from about 15m out to concede a behind. Looked deliberate from my perspective and too far out, particularly thinking back to Broad getting done for it earlier this year. Have I got something wrong here?

Why arn't we fit? Mate blame recruiters if that is what your asking. You have to put games into children.
The 2024 afl version is run and run fast.
We run and conk out.
Therefore we aren't fit enough.
Collingwood have Hill Crisp Lipinski Daciosx2 McCreey they run from start to finish.
Sydney Glyden Warner Heeney Rowbottom

A Hawthorn player was near the goal line but we always get reamed.
I thought the umpires were instructed not pay free kicks if you lift your arm.
They payed them all day

Team played not wanting to lose rather than trying to win. Timid. Disappointing especially considering the occasion.

Home from game & even angrier now - how can we dish up that absolute rubbish for one of our greatest ever players. Total disgrace.

Yze and his coaching stuff ought to be having a bloody good hard look at themselves too. Pathetic. Stop playing duds like Dow, Mansell & Sonsie. Leaving McAuliffe on the bench for 3/4’s when the midfield was being torn to shreds. Woeful.

Yeah but they are all match harden regular players, we dont have em. Where is the comparison?

Watson’s team mates were even joking about it on the sidelines. Hope the umpire is shown that and reacts accordingly.

Running the game through my mind on the train ride home. What was obvious was WE JUST DO NOT RUN AND SPREAD OR PROVIDE AN OPTION. How many times we took a mark AND NO ONE WAS *smile* PRESENTING FURTHER DOWN THE GROUND. No 15-20m chip mark kicks moving the ball keeping possession taking some pace out of the game at times. We are putrid at this. Our forward line resembled Easter Island - statues everywhere. Our centre clearance work was embarrassing at times. Why we waited 3/4’s to enact the sub was mind blowing. Nothing was working through the early stages of the third quarter yet we kept a midfielder on the pine. I’m not saying the kid is a star but PUT THE KID ON, WHAT DID WE HAVE TO LOSE??? 92K turned up. The club said show your support for a champion and we did. An effort from the boys would have been nice. Tackling, chasing, presenting - just the basics. Didn’t care if we lost, but not in that fashion. I don’t know if it’s learning a new game style, fitness and conditioning deficiencies, coaching or just players not up to it. We need to at least start showing some competitiveness or we could be in for some hard times. Cotchin, Riewoldt, Shedda, Dusty potentially are/will be gone - who is going to drag us into games in the future. Who is going to grab the kids attention to want to turn up/talk about/wear their numbers? Who is generation Next?
Hopefully we'll find a few new stars in the next couple of drafts but even then we need to wait a few years for them to display star quality. We had a long lead up from 2009 to 2017 before we got the right mix of players and team bonding to achieve greatness. Yes it is hard to accept, but patience is required again, there's just no other way.

I’ve no confidence that Yze is the right person to lead the rebuild. Beyond pathetic today.

Gee that Watson is a grade A *smile*. I hope he plays less than 50 games.

Constantly dropping his legs and arms to force the tackle high and the cheating pricks were only too keen to pay him the frees that he didn't deserve, By the letter of the law they should have all been holding the ball.

Tigers need a strong hard solid marking CHF not subs who are just not CHF's. Until then we are going to suffer. Anybody around ?.

Umpires who can determine someone who kicks the ball 5 m that takes a cruel bounce showed insufficient intent to keep the ball in play determined that the hawk player who handball from 15m out 3 m wide of his target was just a skill error. Point conceded no deliberate.
