Genuine trade bait

Don't worry about Tooheys RT, he is ageist.

jb, I've enjoyed this discussion with ToO as we both have a differing opinion but we did not abuse each other for having that different belief.

What's that old saying (and by whom was it said) - "I may not agree with what the man is saying, but I will fight to the death for his right to say it!"

Even though the RFC needs strong leadership on and off the field we are still a democratic corporate entity that has annual ballots for its leaders.

Viva le democracy.........

I love it when people write "Don't trade so-and-so, he's one of our only good players!"

It has nothing to do with who is good and who is bad. Trading is about getting something better than what you're giving away. It could mean giving up your best player if you get something even better in return.

There's virtually nothing to be gained from even wasting breath discussing trades for blokes like Nason. That's like betting 5c on poker at the casino - even if you win the return is so small it won't change anything.

I'd get whatever is on offer for the usual suspects - McGuane, White, Thursty etc. I think Jackson's skills suits Sydneys game plan to a tee - lots of stoppages, stop start game (sprint stop sprint stop), bullocking work to be done etc - but I can't see him going anywhere else. Edwards for the right package. All of these guys don't suit Dimma's mantra for the team anyway - they don't have even passable kicking skills let alone elite - so I can't see them being that highly considered internally.

Foley - he just started to look like he was getting some of his old form back - breaking away from packs and creating ooportunities - plus it's really his first year working Dimma's game plan - so he was in learning mode for a lot of it like the kids were last year. I'd keep him for sure we're way too short of talent in the midfield to let him go.

Tucky would have been good in the 80s. Very much in the Terry Wallace (Hawks version) mould.
Put in on the boot and hope.

I certainly believe that you have to be exceptional to remain on the list after 30. Especially if you're part of an under performing team.

Tuck is only half way done at 30 if he is anything like his old man.

I think our team is still better with him in it and then without and i would rate him above jackson particulary on jackson's form this year.

Jackson has a little trade value as compared to none for tuck, I would give tuck another year and see if there any bites for jackson.

As for our players with real trade value i would love for us to trade Deledio but i cant see it ever happening.

Does anyone think that the GWS or GC might be interested in the likes of Morton, White, Mcguane, etc or are we kidding ourselves?

You know those garage sales you go to and some muppet has a box of old blank floppy discs up for sale for $2 because someone might by em? Or a broken radio that they think someone will buy to fix up? These threads about trading Morton and co make those garage sales look briliant.

Because despite the fact he is one of our best players, i think we could get alot out of GWS for him.

A deal that lands us O'Meara and and a 1st round draft pick even if we had to throw another player in? I wouldnt hesitate.

He is contracted till 2012 i believe. How it effects the player base and supporters is another story.

But why would GWS do that? If they want Deledio and Deledio is really that keen to move all they need to do is wait for Free Agency and price him out of our reach (with their excessive salary cap concessions). GWS are smart cookies. They've already landed some quality young players from other clubs and in my opinion have had more success than Gold Coast in this area. They're not going to pay over the odds for Deledio, they'd be happy to sacrifice one year to the end of Deledio's contract in 2012 and make a move on him then. They have all the cards, it's up to the Tigers to sign Deledio off on an extended contract as soon as possible.

So much for those wanting to trade Nahas. Signed for next two years, and glad I am.

Yep, Nahas and King have signed on for another 2 years.

Depends on what other offers last i heard sheady was talking big offers of star players for those 17 year old's, however i already mentioned deledio's contract and that i think its highly unlikely.

As far as im concerned Deledio is a very good player but short of a superstar, if there one player on our list we might get the over the value for its him.

GWS can take him next year in a bidding war and if they are willing to pay over the odd's by a long way we should seriously think about if he is worth that price.

Why would we sign King up for two years? Why not just one? It's not like he would be that sought after.

Perhaps the footy department reckons a 27 year old who can kick 25 goals and apply decent forward pressure is worth two years?

Now I understand. Deledio is in our best 2 or 3 players. You don't trade them unless the offer is amazing. Trading Deledio away for a unproven 17yo would be crazy.

We won't ge fair value for Deledio if GWS target him under free agency. Our best move is to extend Deledio's contract as soon as possible.
