Genuine trade bait

Trading Astbury now is selling low in the extreme. He would have been worth more last year and is likely to be worth more next year unless injury stops him playing. Astbury's also known for his good character whereas Gunston walked out on his teammates without even attending the club awards night.

I agree its not a glowing resume and walking out on ur team mates is bad form but he is young and from what ive seen lately the crows culture isnt the best.

Also on Maric he is no star but he is a good tap ruckman. But he doesnt know how to play in the forward lines and that is why the crows wouldnt pick him with Jacobs already opccupying the #1 ruck spot. He is a ruckman who would have 2 rest on the bench but could play 75% of gametime in ruck and then use another tall to ruck the remainder.

We should not be trading any of our young tall KPP . Astbury will be a very good player . He looks a footballer to me and as you said has already been earmarked as a potential leader in the club .

The Zips tradeables!
Foley
Jackson
Morton
Mcguane
Edwards
White
Newman
King

For the right price, these would be used to help us to fill holes currently in our side.
Good ruckman, Clarke
Good defender, thompeon
Good midfielder, Silivia
Players that i would look at Jordan Russell, Ben Ross, Brodie Moyes, Shannon Byrnes
John McCartney, David Rodan,

David Rodan??? Surely you jest. Why would we want him back again??

We won't trade Astbury. People forget how good he was last year. Yes he put too much weight on. There is also a reason he is wearing the great man's no.12. And part of it is related to your last sentence.

If Miller was in charge then he would get the deal done. Remember when he traded our pick 19 for Mcmahon(who had only played a handful of games for the doggies that season).
Thankfully those days are behind us if Maric is to come to Richmond then I belive Nason and our third round pick would be fair compensation.

As alot of people have said, the problem being we dont have many seasoned campaigners that carry much currency in the trade market. We may have to take a gamble and trade 1 of those 3 young fellas (post/ griffiths/ astbury). Being realistic i'm not sure there is a spot for all 3 in our team at once next year anyway.

This is where we keep falling over. Lack of depth. Off-loading players because we're not sure there is a spot in the team at once is a recipe that ensures we will never get the depth we need. If we're going to trade we need to trade for players pushing over the other side on the age graph, not our 19 and 20 year olds.

Exactly Goodie. We need to build that depth through judicious recruiting of young talent and moving on the older work horses that might have some trade value.

Good call. Buy low, sell high - thats my motto

Hmm, I don't have confidence in market timing. Better to pay a fair price for a good player than a good price for a fair player?
