Now it makes sense, they must have had a bet who could recruit more of each other's rejects. Hope the bet is over.

After much thought, this is what I have come up with. Ive tried to be as realistic as possible and tried to balance what we need now and for the future. Tell me if I'm dreamin'.

Jackson gets pinched by GWS - end of 1st round / early 2nd round compo pick our way.
(Out of contract and from what Ive heard, what he wants and what we are offering is light years apart. Take him GWS as you need a big body in the guts)
Connors and our 3rd rounder to Sydney - Seaby and their 2nd rounder to us
(I dont think there is a place for him as others are equal to him now and we need a big body ruckman for a few years, change of draft picks helps the deal)
Angus to Port - A.Moore our way
(Port need a ruckman, Moore was rated as a junior but seems to have stagnated. Maybe a change of draft pics too).

There are so many scenarios they can be played out its crazy, hopefuly we can stockpile a couple more compo picks to be used next year, we could end up with 4 picks inside 35.
If anyone has heard or seen of DEEPTHROAT from last year, tell him to get posting with what he knows. It was a great read last year as I was in QLD with limited coverage outside my iphone

Archie comics if only trading worked out that way. We aren't trading an injured fringe player for a ruckman and upgrading the pick in the same trade, and A Moore will require a player with more than an ounce of talent to aquire.

I typed Andrew Moore Port Adelaide re-signed into google and found that he had re-signed a few days ago. Probably no suprise with him being a top-10 draft pick. If Port need a ruckman why do you have them signing Graham; is it because you believe he isn't capable as a ruckman? ::)

This one is out of left field but if Sheedy wanted Houli so GWS could win over the large muslim comminity in western Sydney and was prepared to offer one of the four seventeen year olds on offer do we take it?

Absolutely.

Butcher has re-signed also.

And Trengove and Carlisle and almost every other kid. Said it before in another thread; it is almost impossible to get good players out of weak (young) teams because to make the minimum 92.5% of the cap their club has to offer their best kids grossly inflated deals. Newman is probably earning more than Dane Swan and there is every chance that Vickery is earning more that Travis Cloke. That is the system we live with.

It is the Houli, Grgg, Maric types who are early-mid-20s and not getting a game that you can get. Guys needing a second chance that their clubs won't fight to keep.

Looking through the list these are the guys I think may be put on the table during the trade period in order of currency value..

Tuck - Remote at best.

ToO you really do not like Shane Tuck! I've never seen you provide a kind word for a guy who is a terrific work horse for our club and will continue to be whenever we want him too.

I will grant you he does not have the silky skills of Judd or the like - but he does get the hard ball - he does protect our young players and every premiership team has a player similar to him - some of those players have better disposal but they are certainly no better than he at getting the contested ball.

His chasing and speed to get to his opponents out in the open play has been at times slow - but in the heavy traffic he is one of our best and up their with the best in the current AFL competition.

I hope you see his positives rather than just his negatives thus getting a balanced view of the him.

I see a lot of positives with Tucky, but he needs to adjust to the game plan, he is continually getting caught out big time with awareness of his opponent when sides break the press and create the overlap. Him and Jacko have been key offenders in allowing opposition to get men free to set up the overlap and easy goals, putting intense pressure on our back line.

Love his hardness and in and under, but he games evolving, the game plans evolving and unless Tucky evolves with it his time is limited I'm afraid.

My views are based purely on his football and you're right I'm not much of a fan of it. Never have been.
I'm well aware of his strengths but the negatives outweigh them for mine.
We'll know this club is getting better when Tuck is upgraded.

Back to the thread do you disagree with me that he has minimal value at the trade table?

Foley Jackson and Nahas best bait RFC has.

Id trade all 3 of em this year to get a Zac Clarke and another pick..

Id trade Morton, Connors, Edwards, Graham, Farmer , Jackson, Foley, Nason or White.
If we trade Nahas we will see him kick half a dozen or more goals against us every time.
Dont see any point in trading Nahas as he has been one of our best players this year. Unless he asks the club to be traded.

I really do not understand the market machinations in trading or the drafts.

I reckon GWS may be interested but again in truth I really do not know.

I probably live a little in the past as I have always enjoyed the in and under players for Richmond - Barrott, Stewart and Sheedy was where this preference for that type of player started,

Don't worry about Tooheys RT, he is ageist.

Tucky would have been good in the 80s. Very much in the Terry Wallace (Hawks version) mould.
Put in on the boot and hope.

I certainly believe that you have to be exceptional to remain on the list after 30. Especially if you're part of an under performing team.
