Game Day Tigers v Suns

Do you think they can back off with the constant Rankine barracking?
He was as bad as Castagna last night.

My best
Cotchin
Markov
Jack
Flappers
Baker

My DTUOM's
Castagna
Rioli
Stack

We wont challenge with that 22.
We were the best at keeping the ball inside 50.
Now it comes out very easily.
Our pressure game, isn't 4 qtrs anymore.
And our kicking and decision making going inside 50 is Melbourne like.

We showed glimpses through that game what we can do.
But no spark in the game.
Hope against essendrugs we doesn't show that spark again.

Correct. So watch him get dropped for next game and delisted end of year. Not on the protected or gifted-games list ... can you spot them?
No way Marcov should be dropped. Houli comes in, Marcov to wing or fwd. George out.

Agree.
Can Marcov play forward?

I’d add Rioli to the list of players to make way for others (will not happen next week though being dream time). Appears to lack ideas with ball in hand and is taking an eternity to move the ball forward - allowing the opposition to get back and defend the 50. Looks so far away from the player we saw in 2017. I really hope he can find some form soon.

It isn't a huge issue for me.
I just feel I'd like a bit more evidence cos he seems like a good bloke to me.
But he is a hero of mine so... whatever.
I agree about Lynch to a certain extent. I like he's a big nasty type but there's too much jumper pulling *smile*.
Ablett and Lockett didn't have any drama about it. They'd just put you into next week anyway. That's what I'm looking for in a big forward. Plus goals.

Hawkins can elbow someone in the face and not get this sort of criticism.

What a farce.

DS

No one is calling Hawkins hot headed. And he has the worst reputation.
Nothing would would give me more joy then see Hawkins rubbed out for the finals

Personally I'm not a fan of the false bravado. I cringe a bit when watching Lynch do it - mainly because I'd prefer he just focus on dominating his opponent like I know he can.

I get that it adds a harder edge to our forward line by having your big forward pushing and shoving - but there are other ways of doing it rather than some of the instances we have seen this year.

I think it definitely has an impact on him not receiving his fair share of free kicks as a result (even though the umpires should remain impartial). Jack has received the same treatment throughout his career (albeit in his case more as a result of him appealing for free kicks all the time - works for Ben Brown though so who knows).

Just attack the footy at full pace Tom and hurt blokes that way - that will make them think twice about impeding your path.

I calculate we can drop 1 and finish 4th.

But like 'burg says, we dont drop them in august and september.

Our october record is as good as anyones ever too
Dimma reckons we would need all 5

I totally agree with you. But Markov has been the forgotten man at RFC, given very rare opportunities. This scenario means that you have to come in and almost 'star', especially over our last three years with highly successful teams and a good injury run until last and this year. You have to perform highly if just keeping the spot warm for a more established player. Make some errors, fail to burn brightly, out you go again.
Often it's continuity and perseverance that shapes a novice into a competent player at the top level. I look around the AFL and see many players now finally building AFL careers after taking years to achieve it.
Markov was good in his first game in '20 but was immediately dropped. He was even better last night. Yet there are other players whom, because they have credits in the past bank or a certain reputation, will be on the yoyo line. Performing poorly over several games or even numerous, dropped for a game or two, nothing has changed, selected again. Rinse and repeat.
Markov has great pace, can take a strong overhead mark, kick long and well. I argue that he offers something we can really use right now with our limited midfield and some players not great on speedy running to break the lines or mark overhead.

I will be interested to see where he goes from here at the club. Certainly other teams will come for him at the end of this year looking for, and probably getting, another Butler steal-deal.

Me neither. I'm sure he doesn't care but he's coming across as an absolute *smile* with the pushing and trying to get blokes to flinch. He's a great player and got no problem with him running through players, but it's just a damn poor look. If he really has to act like that to get fired up there is something wrong.

Unpopular opinion, I admire Collins for standing his ground. He's obviously a competitive, passionate guy as shown in the rooms later, good on him. I don't buy the nonsense that he took a dive when Lynch got away on the lead, he was affected by the first blow and Aarts finished him off.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned but I was always taught to respect your opponent, play hard, shake hands after.

The shots of him trying to make Collins flinch are about as embarrassing as you would ever see for an AFL player and that shot will now follow him for the rest of his life, like Cale Morton fleeing Lade or Billy Brownless slapping in the 89 Grand Final.

Disagree. Has an undisciplined streak but I haven't seen him back down. Collins looked like the *smile* head, punching walls in the rooms and stalking up and down when the game's over. Hope he didn't take it out on his missus when he got home.

Just noticed the Herald Sun also had Grimes as our best (as well as afl.com). I considered about ten players for votes, but not Grimes. What am I missing here?
Same. He was unusually fumbly and poor in the air. One of his more average games for mine.

Tall poppie syndrome making Collins come out the hero. He looked like a complete flog after the game.

I was too.

but I was amongst the worst footballers I ever knew.

most of the good footballers I played with had a pretty decent mongrel streak.

but yeah Marlion Pickett and Dylan Grimes-toughs are my favourite toughs

enough time has passed for me to admit Jake King secretly shitted me right off
