Game Day - Richmond Tigers vs Saints

End of the day we got the 4 points against I fired up Saints, 16 pts no not good enough but we're still sitting on 10 wins and have won the 3 should wins which in the past would have let slip .

Disappointed we had the ruckman on the mark at the kick outs late, allowing Montagna too run the ball out.

Not a fan of Gordon but geez people he came on for about 10 minutes, pretty hard too impact in that time, please s surely Madoona should have got a full game and one of the guns or Newman should have had a spell for the last quarter.

Disgusting umpiring ,that's the problem when you have to use 27 each week

I also think the umpiring negatively affected the game. Happy with the 4 points. Can't have be having goalless quarters though.

third quarter looked like a top four team.

last quarter we looked like ... north melbourne.
The 3rd qtr was machine like. A symphony of moving parts operating in time with balance and poise. A thing of beauty. The last Qtr was horrifying. We looked like a wounded animal trying desperately to get away from a lion that you know wasn't going to make it. Stumbling and bumbling around, losing strength and direction by the second before passing out due to loss of blood.

I shudder to think what would have happened had the qtr ran for another 5 mins.

Rapt we got the points and have matured. Just hope we get to that unsociable / ruthless level asap.

Don't underestimate the power of a "Do it for Nick"-type of 3/4 address from Alan Richardson. We played terribly for most of that game, but for the first 3/4 they played worse. We are certainly owning Winning Ugly.

Underwhelming end to the game. Let's other sides know we are still susceptible to the sling shot from a pacier side.

seriously shocking way to finish the game. Apart for the the 3rd quarter it felt like we lost today. Can't begin to imagine what Hawthorn will do to us in 2 weeks time (in fact right at the moment I don't want to imagine it).

Great that we win but disappointing one in the way we folded in the last.

Put it in this context . Hawks up by 35 at 1/2 time Saturday and win by 86 .

Richmond up at 3/4 time by 50 and win by 16 .

There in lies the difference between an elite team and non elite .

Would have taken that margin at the start of the game. Outright 5th now, happy with that. Saints played well in the last quarter, we took the foot off. Big game next week.

Titch, Griff, Vickery, Knights, C Ellis, possibly Conca later in the year will straighten us up. Very good ins to replace the Gordons, Newmans, Hammers, etc.

Think Kamdyn needs a spell; maybe Madonna could be the next Webberley??

Need to give Lennon the same run as Kamdyn has had.

8 from the last 9. Swans our chance of a top 4.

How sh!te was gordon in the last quarter.

He is rubbish full stop. Can't carry players like that and expect to make an impact in finals. Not up to AFL standard.

We won, I'm happy. Saints would have been playing in emotion for their Capt. We did enough in 3 quarters to show we can play ugly no win ugly.

Not fussed about the last other than it would have been nice for the % column.

Heart is finally back beating at its normal rate.

Why, oh why can we not put teams away? We have copped hidings from every opposition over the years, it would be nice to get some sort of revenge.

It is infuriating. They lack that killer instinct that the good sides have.

Still felt that complacency was the main issue in the last quarter.
We know the have the fitness.
Unless we didn't commit to enough tempo and went back to the old days of spending our petrol tickets Q1-Q3.

Pretty impressive performance for three quarters largely undone by a horrid last term. Not sure what to make of it.

Some players were reluctant or incapable of adjusting, getting within 10m of their direct opponents or stopping them sneaking out the back. Still some maturing to do.

Dunno about that. The first quarter was pretty ordinary as well. The Saints seemed to dominate possession in the past 10 minutes of that quarter but couldn't impact on the scoreboard.

The positive is that we won with 2 quarters of footy. The negative is our continual mental lapses and refusal to put the foot on throat of an opposition at our mercy.

Still really lack that killer instinct that top sides have. Until we get that we will only be making up the numbers in finals.

No longer good enough to just win. Must crush sides. That's good to great stuff.

Disappointing.

The last few weeks have been a bit meh - but you take the wins.

Cant help but think Dimma is building the team slowly. Sure there have been no percentage boosters (which would have been nice) but then again we haven't lost in what seems like ages.

Perhaps the 3/4 time message was in 2 parts:

1. Don't lose
2. Don't get suspended

We are a more than a good chance against the Dockers, especially at the G.
