Game Day RD 17 - Tigers V Suns

I was a little bit sad watching Jack tonight. I love him and I think he's doing a great job as a foil to Lynch, and time waits for no one, but after Lynch went off he tried but he just can't do the number 1 forward thing anymore. If he's double teamed he's stuffed. Collins is a bum IMO but he owned Jack a few times. There's no shame in it, Jack will always be a champion to me, but it was stark and hard for someone who has watched his whole career.

He's certainly lost a bit, but he was playing his 2017 role tonight. Trying to go up against 2-3 opponents and bring the ball to ground.

And it actually worked. A few of our out the back goals were directly from Jack contests.

He also kicked 3 himself.

He's still someone we can't afford to not have in the side.

The timing errors are increasing due to his declining speed and leap, it's true. I thought he was a bit unlucky with the two unrealistic attempts, one which was spoiled before it hit his hands, and one he got hands on.

Along with the injuries especially Nank, this was our WC loss as last year and just won't have the stamina or experience or brains to win most games now.

Questions have to be asked about or fitness and conditioning guys. How many hammies and soft tissue injuries now?

We must've had about 6 players with under ~10 games experience tonight. I expected us to run out of steam.

Dusty
Cotchin
Lynch
Vlastuin
Nank

Prestia's slow recovery from concussion (I've been saying it on here for years... it takes 4-6 weeks before our concussed players look 100% again)

That's 6 of best 10 players.

Balta a nice potential boost

Our prime-aged players are mostly all in career best form.

1-2 surprise gems (such as Stack) and we're going to be very hard to beat come September.

George has become a genuine liability.

Time for him to be left behind.

Its not funny anymore.

Making the 8 is still damn bloody important. Don’t subscribe to the “what’s the point?“ outlook one iota.

1. That’s NOT what this club is about and if it is, then we’ve gone back to the bad old days and;
2. We’ve gotta get finals experience into our next generation eg Gibcus, Ralph, MJ and others like Clarke, Sonsie etc if they happen to crack a game from here on in.

Play on.

dont forget grimes he gave away a soft dumb downfield that gifted a goal. Moronic play. We corner the market in that department.

Yep already mentioned it in another one of my posts. He is the captain and from time to time he is doing some dumb *smile*.

Points one and two might be mutually exclusive.

With Nank having a PCL injury I think making the 8 might be a bridge too far regardless of anyone’s intentions.

Yeah good point re Prestia. It was a wierd game. I feel conflicted. I didn't expect to win due to too many fringe players, thought we might jag a narrow win, but if you'd told me dow would come in for Ross, Lynch would go down in the first and Nank and Soldo cop it, on top of that, I'd have thought we would get beaten easy. But we won most of the game. Was that us playing out of our skin or Suns being off? And having got into that posi we should have hung on and the last 3 minutes were a disgrace, an abomination. Anyway, always next week.

Today one must point the finger at Vlaustin. No one else as all gave their most on the field whilst he sat in the stands for a juvenile brain fade last week.

Tommy Derrick X dropped the Baby .......... one of his very few immortalised highlights :))
Tonights loss reminded me of the Essendon loss, 90 or 91?? In a half demolished MCG. Bomber Thompson kicked a goal to put them in front for the first time in the game, and then the final siren went. Bomber was on his own calling for the ball for an eternity, the whole stand were screaming to pick him up! Stuart Griffiths was on Bomber. Griffiths and Derrickx.
