Game Day RD 17 - Tigers V Suns

I cannot fathom how two such useless players like Castagna and Aarts are even on a list. Time and time again yet they keep getting selected.
Because, contrary to what some on PRE want you to believe, many of our draft selections have been duds. Have done far better with rookies. So low quality.

The injuries are mounting & hurting.
Some aren't up to covering, some aren't up to it at all. We're patched up. The results are not surprising.

Probably just handed our finals spot to Collingwood after that.

You just knew it was coming.

I think we are done we cant keep our best players on the park.

The Club and fitness staff have dropped the ball badly this year, we have too many recurring soft tissue injuries to the wrong players too, key players, the players weren't fit enough for the season start and the desire isn't there.

Worst part is that our best side fit could actually win the Flag this year yet here we are back to Richmond 2016 losing games in this fashion.

Embarrassing,
Probably handed the man we needed to make the next coach of RFC to Colonwood too if we're brutally honest. The performances he's getting out of an inferior side are the opposite to ours this season. They win close ones after launching 5/6 goal comebacks while we ...

Not sure why Dimma didn't push Baker up the ground to steady the ship again

Agree. We were leaking centre clearances by his own admission and without Cotch and Dusty it had to be worth a try.

Marlion too. Could easily have pushed Hugo to the wing and Marlion into the middle

Prestia's concussion is a bigger issue then the 1 week he missed. He might take a month or longer to recover.
Lynch and his hammys, How has Balta copped 2 hammys in a space of 5 weeks?
We turned up in poor condition in round 1 and it has turned our season into *smile*.
We have played in spurts all year, unable to put 4 qtrs together.
Serious questions need to be asked.
Why *smile* that we are having a great preseason, 'we had the opportunity to plan due having the time to prepare'

This team is once again untrustworthy. How many times have we blown 5 plus goal leads this year??? This team gets a good lead (40 points tonight) and then disappears completely. I don't what to say. They just keep inventing new ways to tear your heart out. They just simply can not be trusted anymore. No longer capable of getting the job done. Yeah we get players back and we might win a few more games. What does it matter; we don't have the fire or the desire in the more. It's over. You don't lose games like that (and others this year) and go on and win flags.

But at least the rest of the footy world and the media will be happy. In their eyes Richmond is back to doing what Richmond does best. They can all laugh at us again.
I think I have to agree. I'm still both fuming and feeling humiliated by that inept performance. Is the club really racked by complacency now too - a refusal to make the hard decisions required for moving forward rather than patting ourselves on the back.

Nah. 13 would get us in I reckon. Especially if the Saints, Dogs, Port, GC drop the odd game. Easier said than done of course.
I did a ladder predictor during the week. Tipped us in every game as a best case scenario but selected the team I thought would be favourite in all other games. Didn't worry about margins but the predictor ended up with Scumwood 9th on 14 wins!!!

13 wins is likely but no certainty IMO. Would definitely need a good percentage.

For a team that leads by so much in games, it's either fitness or psychological, or both.

Not sure what it is.

Yes we have players that shouldn't be playing but we crumble under the wave of momentum when teams start taking risks and start kicking goals.

This is a new problem for us. Where is Emma Murray and McCUrry and their leadership programmes?

There isn't a magic wand going around to fix the 1 issue that is effecting these swings in momentum, they are happening to all teams, but to use a footy phrase, we can only control what we can control, and in that, it has to be around goal kicking. 13 behinds kicked to their 5. Thats the game right there.
Goal kicking is a very high proportion mental; much more so than physical. We miss a lot of goals through mental fragility this year.

We're off. It's over. Physically we're old and over the hill and our young players coming through aren't much chop at the moment. But we miss way too many goals we should kick and that has cost us games this year. It's in our heads.

You couldn't miss this again if you had another 100 attempts. He kicks this and we go up by 24 points, game over!!!

Besides the obvious Jack and Tom, do we have any forwards that can actually mark the f*cking ball??????
I will take that as a rhetorical question. Druggies pinched D'Ambrosio in MSD who won a RS nomination last game; Pies played their MSD pick today, Coleman, who looked ok. Either one may have been just what we needed. Long way to go but both have got AFL games quickly; some others have at other clubs too.

So we took Bauer but not sure if he will be ready for AFL for a while, if ever. We just don't seem to be finding gold anymore.

Disappointing and frustrating, what else can you say?

Was listening on the radio, Murdoch gets none of my money and not on FTA.

Cooking tea for the last quarter and screaming at the radio, it really was a depressing end to the game.

I agree that teams do get a run on these days and can score multiple goals in succession, would be interesting if one could find a stat on say 3 or more goals by one team in succession as opposed to earlier years.

Yes our centre line is weakened by injuries, but even when we have had out best players in, or at least less missing, we have still had periods of games where we have simply been smashed in centre clearances. Something needs to be done about this as it is not sustainable, especially with the 6-6-6 rule, which belongs in games like soccer which have an offside rule. Australian football has always allowed for more freedom of movement but the current idiots in charge seem to want to change our great game into something it isn't. When the opposition gets a run on with dominance at centre clearances we need to respond. Send Pickett into the middle, move some bigger players in there . . . FFS do something to stem the bleeding, we just don't seem to react.

I have to say after today's effort Castagna cannot be selected again, he just doesn't do his job. Given his VFL form I cannot understand how he got a game anyway, but how they can select him again just defies logic.

Aarts, to be fair, has been performing in the VFL. But he didn't step up at AFL level today. Hard to justify his place.

In terms of depth we have a few that look very questionable - RCD has had very interrupted development but is currently going nowhere, his VFL form does not justify selection in the AFL, can't see him staying after this year. Dow is borderline. Sounds like Miller was quiet today, a pity as I reckon he could be ok. Not sure about Biggie, could still be ok. This year's recruits, it is too early to say but they will take time.

We could have had a crack this year but have thrown away too many games we should have won. Need to take stock and delist a few at the end of the season. Could be an early end with no rucks for the next few weeks. Samson Ryan should get a chance but you can't expect a young inexperienced ruck to carry the load on his own.

So disappointed with today's result and moreso with the way it happened.

How come the Druggies have taken D'Ambrosio and Durham off us. Didn't we see something there?

What hard decisions have we refused to make?

Not sure about that stat David but if there was a stat for leading games by around 5 goals and then losing we'd be a long way on top of that ladder.

We are also leading the "beaten by GC Suns with a kick after the siren" stat".

So it's not all bad.

If we are brutally honest we should have sacked dimma and appointed fly? fair dinkum? Mate it was a hard loss to take but keep it together.
