Game Day RD 17 - Tigers V Suns

The question is how far down the ladder can we finish if we try? Thats what we should be looking at. Picking up another Gibcus
Every chance to lose to Dorkers, Bears and Kochies in Adelaide

Definitely a whiff of 2021 in the air.

No Willos. Because this has been happening ALL year long. Not just in games we’ve lost but also in games we’ve won. Cwood, Carlton, Hawthorn, Port, WCE last week….they were all games where we faded badly for extended periods and let them back into the game.

The first WCE game and maybe the Dogs games are the only games this year where we’ve put a decent end to end performance in. Otherwise we’ve had huge lapses in all the others.
Exactly

Nah. We have coughed up multiple 5 goal leads this year. Some we have just managed to hang onto.
Something is wrong.

Its the current game. Every team is suffering from significant swings in momentum where teams get run ons. Its what 666 was brought in for. Its why we need to work on bringing some more support in to help us at centre clearances so thats certainly 1 issue that we need to fix, but its not something we can do that easily, it needs to be through quality recruitment. We knew about this, but between salary cap issues and not having currency we couldn't bring anyone in to help out there in the off season. Hopefully we will be able to in the coming off season. We have to accept this will happen, due to losing in the middle too often, maybe as some have suggested Pickett maybe in as a defensive midfielder (we usually play with 2, Graham plus Cotch or Ross, but only 1 today) but we need someone to be as good on the wing as Pickett, maybe Banks or Hugo?

There was always likely to be a swing today. With the quality they had in the middle (Witts, Rowell, Anderson and Miller) they were always getting a run on. Our game today was once we had that lead was to counter punch and maintain the lead as big as we could. The fact that we couldn't is down to those that kicked behinds, nothing else.

Too much left for too few unfortunately. Our depth is a massive concern and questions need to be asked of our recruiting and development.

I get that but every game bar one we have been in winning positions.
Our last quarter's have been diabolical.
We could quite easily be entrenched in the top 4.
We have lost our mental edge.
Sides know it and smell blood.

It was bad but I can half excuse possession mistakes. But, Short, what the hell was he doing? Did he think we'd already won?

We just can't run out games as well as we did. The ageing core of guns can't sustain it anymore. Not enough of the kids have come on.

I hope the blowtorch comes onto recruiting and devolpment. Huge question marks on Matt Clarke.

Show me a game (that hasn't included a blow out) that hasn't had 1 team scoring quickly, and the other team then comes back. Its how the game has been designed with 666 to make things exciting. It either leads to blowouts, or it causes significant swings in momentum. It just seems that we have a lot more of those swings against us in 2nd halves.

It happens quite simply the other way too. Look at the Cats game, they quickly generate a 4-5 goal lead, we reign it back in and lead by 3, did you complain then? No because it went in our favour, that game then swung back against us.
