Game Day RD 17 - Tigers V Suns

Were their changes to our fitness/rehab crew last off season or the same guys?

After losing Rob Inness there needs to be a revamp of that area i think

If Nank has a PCL thats likely the season for him.

Just when we hit the so called easy part of our season fixture the wheels fall off.

Time is fast approaching where we need to find out who can and who cant before seasons end so we can move on list cloggers and those who are either cooked or not up to it.
Get rid of Soldo, Colina and other players not grown up with Aussie Rules.

That’s looking like a fair few right now. We are in the unenviable position of having at least 4 aging stars burning out, no backup midfield and a very soft 2nd tier of ‘talent’. It will be a long road back.

The crazy thing about all of this is that when we bring the pressure (ie something above a 180 rating) we’re still one of the hardest sides to compete against in the AFL.

But these guys just think they can switch it on and off and get by. Unfortunately though, we’re simply not talented enough to do things on the bit. We are number 1 for turnover errors. We miss simple and easy executions in front of goal. Time and time again. And other simple and often, dumb acts …like Short’s 50. How many times have we given away stupid frees and 50’s this year ?

But the hunger just isn’t there anymore to maintain a consistent and decent level of pressure over the entirety of a game. That’s as big an issue as anything. To me, that’s the most disappointing thing with this group right now.
Yep

Questions need to be asked about our recruiting and development , despite not having access to early picks we still should have more new blood in the team...

A very Richmond drama.
We do wheels falling off better than anyone.

Is it a coincidence that we fail to run out games by playing 2 ruckman? Two lumberers really. Nank when on song, gets around the ground ok, deep back and even forward. Soldo no so much this season, big lumberer without much input around the ground.

Other clubs make do with one ruckman ie Witts, Darcy, Grundy, maybe with another ruck/forward or forward/ruck giving them a spell.
We have certainly missed Balta being able to pinch hit ruckthis season.

Perhaps the more relevant question is, how did we get 40 points up with such a crap team?

We need a better fitness bloke.
That's the 5th game we have had it in control and we found a way to lose
Carlton Stkilda Sydney Geelong and Now Gc.
We even hit the lead in the Adelaide game and we went on to lose.
Not fitness blokes that make George indecisive. Not fitness blokes that make Short do who the *smile* knows why

Cheyne -Stokes breaths of a dying creature. ( look it up).
Thats where we are at.

By comparison have a look at other sides re
1 defending a kickout
2 kicking in strategy
3 forward entry
4 centre clearances

We are very poor.
This comes down to coaching and tactics.
Also...
We have ageing injured players and unskilled non AFL level replacements.
Our ageing stars give us half a chance but they are dying off one at a time.
Season is done and dynasty is done.
Time to start again.
It will be a long road as the cupboard is light on after a few young stars.
Dimma needs much better help or needs replacing if his style is now found wanting.
Dimma had decent help in McCrae and Leppa but decided he wouldn’t take a pay cut to keep them when the afl reduced the soft cap. Thought he could do it on his own with what we had left. Hubris? If it’s the coaching staff to blame for not being up to it, then it is dimma’s fault, all imho of course.
So p!ssed off that we cannot hold onto a decent lead. I’m not sure who to be more p’d off with. The dumb selfish footballers who kick it straight to the oppo, or the dumb selfish players who give away stupid stupid stupid 50m penalties, or the dreadful umpires who are as useless as George, or the MC who have no idea, or the recruiters who haven’t picked up decent players, or the afl for nobbling our team by rule changes, or the medical staff for getting so much wrong. I think I’m angry seething actually.
