GAME DAY Rd 13 - against the Pepper Power at the home of the G

I was at that game also. The coldest game that I have ever been to. Colder than any trip to the snow I’ve been to
Kong it's *smile* that covid and the weather Is keeping people away. Apprantly the AFL is conducting a survey. Pity that the results will be to suit them.
The out cry is the rules. Alot of my mates don't go because of things like the Pickett bump being reportable. Umpire quality at an all time low. And that 50+ yr olds don't spend 1 min buying tickets through ticket tec. The membership should get you in or the people in the windows can sell you a ticket.
I haven't got a clue how to get into a game.
Can i turn up? Is there anyone in the windows? Does the membership just scan me in??
*smile* it. I watch it on TV with the most annoying TV commentary in 50 yrs.
Bring back Morphett, Richards, Shikton, Landy.
The destruction done by Gilligans crew is unrepairable.
Get use to block busters with 50k crowds

Play poorly and win is good I suppose. Dusty seemed to be fwd more and kicked 2 but stll NQR; Kamden mark and goal! why not every week. JR: poor game; Nank neutralised again by a GWS KPF; Sheds is still on the 2017 game plan; Hugo ~ good and bad. Clarke not bad debut but kinda strange Cumberland didn't get the promotion from sub last game his career is more on the line.
No injuries, no need to play sub the last 2 games. Lynch and Lambert ins for Soldo, & ???

It wasn’t pretty but last night was a typical Richmond game circa 2017-2020. We had 16 more inside 50s and kept them to 10 goals from 15 scoring shots which is rarely going to be enough to win the game. In short, we defensively suffocated them.

Daisy suggested the concussion protocols didn't happen, and she does play the game, and it would be controversial. then another commentator stepped in and shut her down.
Full credit to Daisy there.
It was obvious that the AFL stepped in when she said that, rang em up to change her wording.
Watson stepped in praising AFL doctors.

Unreal

Does anyone have the expected scores? Was a five goal win IMO. Port slotted some tough ones and missed maybe one easy one. We must have butchered four or five sitters.

Agree, myself and many mates no longer go due to umpiring and new rules.

Easier to change channel at home than get angry at the game.

Every game there seems to be controversy. It either ARC was ineffective; PICKETT ran past the ball to bump (that’s what you do when you shepherd); the umpires don’t know the most basic of rules and make up their own (like throw your arms out “that’s dissent”); shuffle the ball out or flick the ball forward - that’s okay 90% of the time; 50m penalties for ridiculous rules that shouldn’t even there; deliberate out of bounds or insufficient attempt to keep the ball in - the list is becoming endless and all the while the AFL papers overs the crack with a quick fix (rule change) and ignores the real problems. The game last night was just horrible to watch and if it wasn’t Richmond I would’ve gone to bed. There is nothing about football that is uplifting and we have the AFL to thank for it.

It was clearly a point. Clearly hit the post, I can’t believe people are carrying on about that one.

I thought the ump had paid a free to Gibcus (whistle went before the ball went through) and was checking if it was a goal for the advantage. Once it was a point I thought it would then be Gibcus free. Not sure why it didn’t happen that way.
Were you sitting behind the goals at the PRE? It wasn't clear to me from that footage, wasn't clear to the goal ump, or the players who were there. I watched it few times, if it hit the post, and it might have, it hit the back of the post.

It might have been a point, but definitely not 'clearly', nowhere near it. I'm not carrying on because it was definately a goal, I'm carrying on because that footage was inconclusive, and the whole point is it has to be conclusive to overturn the ump.

Cornhead even had to call the club about the head clash. Who does he actually work for?. Hinkley nearly did a Bevo with Jay Clark and been all defensive shows they are hiding the truth.

Last night was nothing short of putrid. 70 less possessions at half time. 18 less contested possessions at half time. Yet we were in front.

Yesterday on another thread I said our season is right on the tipping point and i don't know which way we're gonna fall. Its more hope than faith that we fall on the right side as i don't have enough evidence for either.

Nothing has changed my mind after last night.

The media said it was a good game last night and Port had a crack. I don’t see it that way at all. I thought it was a very, very poor games from both teams.

But one positive is that we lifted in the last quarter. Maybe that was a turning point? Only time will tell. Must win next week.

Castagna must play every week. I don't care if he gets a kick or not. His closing speed is essential on our forward line. We looked slow without him!

It looked nasty MCR, but it is really hard to say without being on the spot. You don't automatically go downstairs and get the pen and paper out for a knock to the head, there's a range of things you work through to get to that point.

They had time to work through that stuff during the time patching them up and they both will have been absolutely clear on all measures, so you don't go into the next phase.

One thing I would say though is I would unequivocally back the competence, judgement and professionalism of the medical staff involved and anyone who thinks they know better from a distance is a fool.
The two players basically became one of mind!

Very heavy direct head clash and they were both slow to get up and needed assistance to get off the ground.

That should be an automatic test. Its Even in the AFL official document on management of concussion;

AFL - Management of Sport-Related Concussion in Australian Football

Code:
3.2 Recognising a suspected concussion

(a) Any one or more of the following visual clues can indicate a possible concussion:

(i) Loss of consciousness or responsiveness

(ii) **Lying motionless on ground/slow to get up**

(iii) Vomiting

(iv) Seizure or convulsion

(v) Unsteady on feet / balance problems or falling over/incoordination

(vi) **Grabbing/clutching of head**

(vii) **Dazed, blank or vacant look**

(viii) **Confused/not aware of plays or events**

(ix) Impaired memory (unable to recall events leading up to or following the injury)

(x) **Facial injury**

Now I am probably one of those fools who thinks they know a bit more than they actually do, but multiple points of those were ticked and its a bad look, bad precedent to have knocks this bad not warranting a test. Again I have no experience in sports medicine and I am not a doctor or have any medical training.

It makes me shudder to think what happens at lower levels.
