Not there tonight as on holidays.
From the posts, and from the little I saw in a pub and heard on the radio:
Umpires were inconsistent . . . wow, surprised
Our skills were not up to scratch . . . yet another surprise
The ARC made the situation worse . . . gee, the surprises keep coming
Small crowd on a Thursday night, and they were expecting . . .
But I did see a couple of things. I saw Shai miss in the last quarter from maybe 25 out on a slight angle, really, that sort of shot should just be slotted by an AFL player. I looked up his stats and he kicked 0.5. Bad return from Shai tonight, needs to do better.
But the most interesting thing was the stat I always look at - percentage of inside 50s which led to a scoring shot: Richmond 34% and Port 31%. They are really low numbers, sounds like the defence was on top for both teams and also that forward entries by both sides were bad.
We won the inside 50s comfortably, but only won by 12 points, and it was only the second quarter where we lost the inside 50s. Contested possessions even, we won hitouts but lost clearances (happens too often).
Clearly need to work on basic passing skills, forward 50 entries, winning clearances. That is a lot to work on really.
Still, good to get the 4 points.
