For an elite sporting competition as well-resourced and funded as the AFL is, the current 'technology' in place is an embarrassment and a disgrace.
I've lost count of how many times they'll show the vision on the screen and there's no way possible one can tell for certain whether a ball is touched, or whatever the question may be. They're going off TV camera angles and other shoddy footage, then someone upstairs is put on the spot to make a call or they just end up going with the umpire's call anyway.
With all the revenue the league rakes in each year, surely state-of-the-art score review technology can be invested in.
Hell it might even make people a bit less annoyed when forking over exorbitant amounts of their hard-earned for merch, tickets, food, memberships, etc. if they know the money is going towards something that'll make the experience better.
Either do it properly or don't do it at all.
