FYI 2019 Grand Final - RFC Priority Groups/AFL Grand Final Ticketing

RFC just sent out an email to all members who were successful in the ballot. No real new information though. Just when and how to collect and restating your tickets are your tickets and there is no provision to change what's been allocated.

This is all too late for this year - but would it have been possible to have your two memberships in slightly different names e.g.
Mr Smoking Aces
Mr S Aces
Nah both memberships under the same name. I called the RFC today and go no where with it.

I’m in the same boat.
The thing that annoys me is I have to take a gamble weeks out from the GF by choosing between the HF guarantee and my AFL membership. You should be able to select which option you wan to take once both PF’s have been completed.

Just about this - in 2017 I rang the club before the GF registration to make sure i could use my Maurice Rioli ticket ( inaugural member when the club told me that they were stopping that category of paying for a grand final guarantee but i could get MRC for more money which I did . I then learned later from people on here that that grand final category did actually keep going !) and my AFL club support ( of about 30 years!) and it was fine. It meant i could use my extra MRC on someone else who missed out on a ticket which i did
Due to this being the case i did not ring the club and their info sheet was not really clear about this BUT they should have sent all of us in a similar boat clear instructions that the 2017 rules were no longer applicable.
So because of this i did not pull out my RFC bar code in my name and thus yesterday when put in AFL bar code it was blocked.
It was just a horrible feeling as this has never happened before to me
The reason I use my AFL seat is i have a much better chance of getting a better seat in level i esp this year as GWS had hardly any eligible members
I understand i am lucky to have my RFC allocation but the seats are up in the gods and this business of the ticketek random balloting of seats and it appears noone in priority one ever gets a good seat ( other than you smoking aces with category 3 ) is just another whole issue
The club had the nerve this morning to put it back on me and basically almost say I am ungrateful complaining to them about this
Our issue is exactly the same. Carbon copy in fact. They said I have one of my memberships discounted hence why I cant be able to get 2 tickets. My argument was I purchase the MR and AFL memberships in isolation, and no one had ever told me this was the case. No communication at all. I then told them I had no issue with this in 2017. In which they then went on to say the rules have changed. Yet again no communication. I have now escalated this and am waiting for a call back.

I was just wondering whether (for the future) a distinction like that might have been a work-around that made the system think it was two people.
Bummer for now for sure.

Agree in the same position. 25 year members of both. Disappointing. Anyway have a ticket which is the main thing. Shame so many tickets don’t go to members of participating clubs.

Just received an e mail from the club re the new potential tickets on offer, I didn't bother registering this year as myself & 3 kids are all different categories & the 2 youngest weren't even eligible to enter , i went by myself in 2017 but thought i'd prefer to watch with them all together this time around then have myself sitting alone again & if my daughter got through sitting by herself also.

It mentions on the e mail if you are purchasing for friends & family have their bar codes ready as well. I doubt there would be enough seats still available for 4 all together by then , but am i reading that correctly that you could try , or would you still get put all over the place ?

This really hurts as platinum, Priority 1, Premiership Circle who has been allocated 3 tickets for someone just out of hospital, an 80+ pensioner and me up the top deck 10 rows from the back.

Grateful for getting to the last game, not so thrilled that I ended up with Cat 6 tickets - Q35 row GG :-( - On seagull watch. 25 years, Platinum P1 member, GF guarantee for a decade the Ticketek algorithm could use some polish. Give some more options for those that want the pricing flexibility - Cat 1-3, Cat 4-5, Cat 6+ ?? Then fill the prime seats first and so on and so on.... No doubt there will be members (and I m happy with them) that will get a ticket for this game in a much better position than the Q35 GG seats I was allocated. There has to be a fairer system then whats on offer now today for future finals !

I’m pretty sure this is only for ‘eligible members’ meaning gold and above, so it would only be you and your daughter. I think there’s every chance that you could get seats together though, as it’s not a ballot I think you’d be able to look through the categories to find one that has two seats together.

Thanks for that. It's a hard one as who doesn't want to be at a grand final, but on Friday night at the game it was a sensational feeling when the siren went & we were all there together hugging each other.

Disgrace that AFL non competing members can just log on and get tickets, then on sell them for 1k each.

if someone can tell me how to copy and past a post it would be great

Thanks for escalating it
I will be interested to hear what they say
After all i have done for this club to have the N1-5 fiasco at the beginnng of the year and now this - terrible!
If they had sent ALL of the AFL Gold club support members an email well before the registration and made it clear then ok but they did not
They could not even tell me if the "change "occurred last year when we made a preliminary

I’m in exactly the same boat. AFL accepted our AFL dining request as Gold Members and gave us 5 A+ seats in level 2 row AA N23. An hour later contacted us and withdrew our tickets because we had entered the ballad a week earlier as expensive Club X1 coterie Priority 1 members and have now allocated us the worst possible cat 4 seats in the entire stadium. Nose bleed back row of the Olympic Stand. Wouldn’t let us cancel the ballad.
System is completely stuffed. We now also have a $3k credit with Ticketek that we’re trying to get refunded for the dining we purchased

If this is the case you should need to just pay for AFL membership and mrc with no additional rfc membership. No communication

AFL saying that us joining an expensive coterie has nullified our ability to use our AFL Gold Memberships to purchase AFL dining for the GF whereas it’s ok every other week of the year. They’re blaming a new rule that they claim was requested by RFC. Ludicrous.
Needless to say we won’t be renewing our Club X1 and just take our chances with AFL memberships with club support.
MRC would be the same outcome as coteries.
As a side note, my brother is an AFL gold member with Priority 3 and casually waltzed in on Sunday morning and scored himself and his mate 2 category 1 seats on the wing row G. How does that work??

Thats BS.

I have been on the phone to them a few times today. Their explanation was that in 2017 we were lucky to get tickets from both Club and AFL memberships. It was a glitch in the system. I went onto to say that their communication post that has been extremely poor, and they should have specifically targeted those members and told them what the process will be moving forward.
