Footy media , love’m or hate’ m ?

In that waste of space SEN story they write:

Even after the AFL introduced increased access to players as part of the new collective bargaining agreement, it seems as though Martin will get his wish to float along and simply play a game of footy.

Yeah mate, that's what he is paid to do, he is a footballer, there is no need for him to front up to an interview to boost your ratings.

That "article" is hilarious.

There are twelve repeated lines along the line "He won't be doing an interview".
Yep. When that whole article could have and should have been done in one small paragraph, it's not hard to see why Dusty won't give them a sniff of his sweaty scungies and players everywhere get the blank look and chant the rote mantra when interviewed.
What was it that old mate Ritchie said about meedjia commentary? Something along the line of unless you've got something important to say, let the pictures tell the story.
Never listen to the meedjia crowd gibbering n jabbering on the footy broadcasts, just watch the game unfold same as I would do live at the ground. They're just repetitive irrelevant noise.

It’s not that Dusty is shy, or shuns the limelight. He (rightly) just regards the media with contempt and wouldn’t give them the steam off his p1ss. Of course they know it, and it must really get under their skin. I doubt there’s a real fan of the club or the game out there who has any issue with that.

Dangerfield isn't even on that next level.
Agree Ian. Another thing to consider is that in 3 Grand Finals, Dusty has kicked 10 goals 2 behinds. As a comparison, Buddy kicked 11.9 from 5 Grand Finals, and Wayne Carey kicked 4.7 from 3 Grand Finals, and they are considered 2 of the greatest key forwards ever!

And Castagna kicked 2.5 in 3 GF's

Saw a clip from the Channel 9 show (don't know the name) with Lethal, Jimmy Bartel and Grubby Morris. Leigh was asked for his top 3 players of this century. He went Buddy #1, Ablett Junior #2 and wait for it........Diverfield #3. His reasoning was that Diver had been All Australian 8 times and that even though Dusty had won 3 Norm Smiths, that was only 3 games, albeit big games. He had Dusty on the next level of players such as Judd, Pavlich and Pendlebury.

What Lethal has overlooked here is that Dusty has won 3 Gary Ayres medals for best player in finals series, not 'just' Grand Finals and not to mention the performances from Dusty in big Home and Away games also. The other thing he missed is that the 3 times Dusty and Diver faced off in finals games, it was like a Grade 6 kid toying with a Grade 1 kid in the playground, Dusty absolutely dismantling Diver each time. My level of respect for Lethal has greatly reduced after watching the clip!
Yep, I rate the Gary Ayers Medal more than a Normie. Best player over 3 or 4 finals matches compared to having one good game in the granny a la Bobby Hill.

Greatness should be measured in the Big games, finals and grand finals.

Spot on, David. He’s a footballer. I want to see him play footy, not give a bunch of one word answers to the same old tired questions you’ve all asked a million times before. It’s like when they mic the players up and play it and say what wonderful insight it provides. WTF? It’s a couple of minutes of a player calling for the ball and geeing his team mates on.

Have to laugh when I hear certain media types whine and whinge that Dusty won’t do any interviews. I heard one nearly crying and stating that Richmond supporters want to hear him and he owes them. Well..have you actually asked ANY Richmond supporters what they want, or as I suspect it’s only you that wants to hear him talk?
I can’t remember who the reporter was but I do remember thinking he’s not even a Tigers person

None of them are.
I wonder if Sarah Black who writes for the AFL website is one of us. Her line on the injuries today was that Jack Ross is still eight weeks away due to an injury that was listed as eight weeks when he did it eight weeks ago. There’s a distinct tone of disgruntled supporter about it.

Just watched AFL360 with Jack on talking about Duz and I have to say.....at least Blobbo engages well with Jack on Duz no matter how many questions he asks and no matter how silly some might be. I don't mind. But what I do hate so much is that *smile* Wanker sitting next to Blobbo who stays virtually dead silent. Prick.

Whately still has nightmares about 17, 19 and 20, waking up most nights in a wet bed.
