Footy media , love’m or hate’ m ?

My brother made a great point about clubs having to play home games at Docklands to fulfill the league's shared obligation: how many home games have Poort or West Coast played there to pull their weight? If it's a league asset that league clubs must collectively contribute to, why do only Victorian teams have to sacrifice a home game? A home game for us against any of the Docklands tenants, or against any of the interstate teams, or against Upper Timbuktu, is not a home game.
Yeah, not sure that would go down well.

There is 1 Victorian team tho that doesnt play a single home game at Docklands- they get to play 9 at their home ground that they get to train on, certainly the only Vic team that does and probably the only team in the league, and a ground that happens to have very different dimensions than any other ground in the league.. They then play another 6 at the MCG, negating any home ground advantage their opponent may have, then 1 at Docklands-as an away game.

Of course it wouldn't go down well. It does expose the hypocrisy and unfairness of the 'all clubs must contribute to the Docklands obligation' nonsense.

And I think Docklands was supposed to be their ‘home away from home’ when it first came into existence.

I find Daisy Thomas refreshing. He does not talk senseless *smile*, his comments are more aligned to what we see and not the AFL cue card blah, blah, blah we get from Darcy et al.

Although he was adamant Kosi will get 2, do you agree? I have no idea

He’s gotta stop saying “Tigs” all the time.

That’s for kids. Baby talk.

It’s “Tiges” if anything.

He already got two. You don’t put a bloke down like that hitting just one.

Mind you, the footage clearly shows he was going for the ball.

So he might get off, but I don’t think his opponent will for at least a few days.

Can the commentators stop saying , "the teeth of goal!". It's hard enough listening to the umpires yell stand every second but to have a progression of the older shitful comment ,"mouth of goal" to its teeth does my head in. What will it be next year? The moustache of goal, the lips of goal.
Just a complete *smile* description of what it is.
Stop it.

It's a metaphor that has been used for decades, I like it. Mind you, commentators do pick up and repeat phrases annoyingly - I used to hate "goes to ground", "going to ground", Mckaveny was the worst. God I hated Mckaveny. Not just for that. For everything.,

Fair enough, different gorses i guess. What about derwayne Russel, from little things big things grow. Another that he said the other night for the first time in a while. Also grates my nerves. But no more than a biased commentator.

Yeah I hear ya. To be fair I tend to have the commentary on pretty low volume these days so miss most of the cliche and inanity.

I think Duckwood reasonably early in the match (maybe around Quarter time) referred to a Richmond player as Noah Bolton.
Did I hear that right?

Not to be confused with $hai Balta.

Seriously clueless.
Most of the night just stood silent holding his mic letting Abbs and Daisy do the talking.

Noah Bolton would be an awesome freak of a player :))

Saw a clip from the Channel 9 show (don't know the name) with Lethal, Jimmy Bartel and Grubby Morris. Leigh was asked for his top 3 players of this century. He went Buddy #1, Ablett Junior #2 and wait for it........Diverfield #3. His reasoning was that Diver had been All Australian 8 times and that even though Dusty had won 3 Norm Smiths, that was only 3 games, albeit big games. He had Dusty on the next level of players such as Judd, Pavlich and Pendlebury.

What Lethal has overlooked here is that Dusty has won 3 Gary Ayres medals for best player in finals series, not 'just' Grand Finals and not to mention the performances from Dusty in big Home and Away games also. The other thing he missed is that the 3 times Dusty and Diver faced off in finals games, it was like a Grade 6 kid toying with a Grade 1 kid in the playground, Dusty absolutely dismantling Diver each time. My level of respect for Lethal has greatly reduced after watching the clip!
