Essendon = Entitlement

XAVIER Campbell has resigned as Essendon chief executive officer.

AFL.com.au believes Campbell informed new Bombers president David Barham of his decision on Sunday night that he will be exiting his post of nine years.

Campbell had earlier on Sunday sat through an Essendon board meeting which sacked Ben Rutten as coach. He had been a supporter of Rutten, and was against the club’s belated and embarrassingly unsuccessful pursuit of Alastair Clarkson.

How is the man that oversaw the supplement saga and also was so mentally ill that he tried to harm himself allowed to coach again??
I hate how everyone refers to it as Supplements. They were "Performance Enhancing Drugs". The only thing close to 30+ players getting done for taking drugs is when the entire Tour De France was cancelled.

People still dont recognise it is one of the worlds biggest Cheating scandals.

There are two narratives out there for sure.

Drugs saga and supplements scandal. Reckon about 40:60. Does my head in too. With that said it’s also a huge part of essendons’ problem of not owning the past.

Hird should come back as CEO... he'll be able to sit in the big chair... fumble under the desk and push that button to unlock the panel concealing the secret compartment where all the 'good stuff' remains!

Dodoro. .... head of footy ops/list management/recruiting

Sheedy. ... Coach

Mark Harvey. ... Senior assistant

Mark Thompson. ... player welfare and development

He went from chocolate to boiled lollies pretty quickly. A clubland Adrian Anderson. Was touted for the top job, and leaves with his tail between his legs.

Fully agree but think they run with “supplements” is they still don’t know exactly what the players were given. One thing for certain is their rapid raise and fall from a physical POV in 2012 was dramatic. As soon as they stopped the program but didn’t reduce the workload especially in the gym the players fell to pieces.
A great book on that TdF is Breaking The Chain by Willy Voigt who worked for Festina and had a load of PED’s in the boot of his car.

He’d probably do a better job than Gill…

In Campbells’s defence by all reports he supported Rutten and opposed the last minute approach to Clarko so had some good qualities unlike Sheedy, Doritos, and the rest of them.

Ditto Madden and Wellman who also opposed that amateur Barham.

The problem is that Hird believes he is the messiah
Maybe, it is a little hard to gauge what he thinks. he stuffed up 10 years ago, when he probably shouldnt have been put in that position in the 1st place- he was way too inexperienced to be coach of a AFL team, and teaming him up with someone like Thompson was another mistake.

if he does believe he should just walk back into the Bombers job to reclaim what is rightfully his then he, and they, are doomed.

If he thinks he can still be a successful coach, and wants to be, then he needs to do what every other successful coach in recent times has done, and do his time as an assistant.
