Essendon = Entitlement

Essendon won't get that, they'll go the whole messiah route
Having listened to Brendon Gale's send off speech for Peggy from Sunday, there's a line in it where he talks about messiahs and not falling into the trap of the belief that a legendary messiah from the past can alone fix everything.

Would love Clarkson to go to the Bombers, get white anted by Sheedy as he does a Malthouse.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Dimma bangs on a couple more flags to become THE modern day greatest coach, surpassing them all:)

Essendon, GWS and North all have the same problem - their playing lists are not good enough to contend.

Of the 3 I would pick North. They at least understand that recruitment and a long term plan is the way forward.

Essendon smell their own farts and reckon they have a list close to contending.

GWS recruited too many of the same sort of player and are yet to learn that your bottom 6 are crucial, and that means having some quality amongst the players who are not paid as much - team balance seems to be a foreign concept to them but if the rumours are correct and they are going to appoint Yze as coach then maybe they are realising that they need a new strategy. To be fair to GWS, they did get damned close, making a GF is no small feat.

Whilst that foitage of Hind isn't great - you should always look your coach/leader in the eye when talked to.

It is typically mischeavious of the media.

That was taken when 50 points up against North directly after getting dragged for giving away a 50m.

Poor form but not as bad as media played out.

Why wasn't brought up after that game?
I was taken in and just assumed this was from Sundays game

So the video was from a previous game - when was the FC segment?
I mean was the discussion straight after the North game - or was it this week In the last day or two of Clarkson speculatio?
And if it was this week - did they acknowledge that the video was old?
That’s pretty slimey if they’ve tried to hide the date of the player snubbing the coach

That's the quality of the AFL media for you.

Anything is click bait material.

But it's still a poor reflection on Hind.

They won flags in eras when 99% of the population was at war or staving.
Records always need to stand. But even before we won a flag, I've always said now it should only count under the AFL banner that started in 1991.
So since then they have won 2
Hawthorn 5
Wc 3
us 3
Sydney 2
Brisbane 3
Melbourne 1
Adelaide 2
Port 1
Geelong 3
Footscary 1
North 2
Collingwood 1

Etc

Carlton are going to the Appeals Board to have their premierships reinstated

And Port are demanding their Sanfl premierships be included

Hawthorn and North had a bit of a run in the 70s also didn’t they Ridley? Fair to say though, I imagine they would likely have had a bit of novelty value, being their first real run at some sort of sustained prominence.
They did but they had very few supporters in comparison to the other clubs mentioned. My point is that Richmond, Collingwood and Carlton were considered the "big clubs" and Essendon wasn't even in that conversation at that stage.

correct, & their decision to play @ Docklands in 2000 reinforced it

Spot on Riddles. The Bummers were a forgotten team since their 1968 flag.

Yep. Lolnorf only grew a bit due to Barass, and then the Dorks grew bigger from their 1982 - 1991 success, but still not a big 4 team.
Yes. Have seen a lot written about how Hawthorn were massive beneficiaries of zoning boundaries written in about the early 1960s. Got very generous zoning. You see them building to prominence in the 1970s (won 3 premierships), and then really consolidating themselves as a dominant club all the way until drafting dynamics took over as the main determinant of list formation. The legacy of lists built from zoning probably lasting into the early to mid 90s, before running out of steam.

Zones had of course existed before this. But I’m lead to believe there was a whole heap of reallocation and reform done in the 1960s that Hawthorn got very well treated under.

Growing up in the 90s taught me to dispise Essendon. I had too many mates who supported them and they used to hang *smile* on me since they were strong and knew that I was such a passionate Tigers supporter, with Richo being my hero. I don't see many of those old Essnedon tormentors these days but I tend not to rub it in when I do, knowing how infuriating it can be to be on the receiving end of it.

The arrogance that club displayed throughout their doping scandal reinforced that hatred on them and I felt a great sense or schnadenfreude at their demise at the hands on WADA.

In the last 15 years I've soften my attitude towards the dons somewhat since they clearly are a basket case. Geelong have since taken over my number 1 most despised team.

No other clubs heaped it on Richmond fans during the 90’s and early 2000’s like Arsendon and Nofinals-ton fans did.

They can stay where they are for eternity as far as I’m concerned.

I was always very shitted-off by the 'strong essendon = strong league' refrain. Firstly its *smile*, secondly nobody ever said that about us.

If Sheedy got his way that's what would probably happen.
Absolutely. Sheedy would have been pushing Hirds cause all year if not longer. I’m just waiting for Sheedy to publicly endorse Hird as Essendon’s next coach regardless of weather the board agrees or not.

It’s how he rolls. When working at Richmond he publicly declared Richmond would win the flag. Not because he believed it but to heap pressure on Wallace. Then when Wallace got sacked there he was stating that he should be coach during the hard times to come before appointing a rookie coach.

He’s a snake in the grass and a master manipulator.

And they both failed at the Swans, even though Hafey had that run with the Capper era.

Yep Tommy killed em all at the RFC and couldn't get the Pies Cats or Swans over the line.
I reckon he (Tommy) and the Swans were a victim of the finals rules at the time. Home finals did not come in until 1991 from memory. If they were in place in 86/87, I reckon Sydney make a GF and who knows from there.

I know it’s been mentioned before. But I am forever grateful for our strong leadership and the recognition of such by the majority of the Tiger Army at the time when that motley group of wannabes pushed their ticket for a board spill. Can you imagine if we treaded down that path again at that time :sick::sick:

Yep the 90s alright. Lots of bandwagoners I met through that decade that barracked for the Bummers all due to the other 2 red & black favourites around the world in ManUre and Chicago Bulls dominating. It was like a marketing paradise for them.
