Essendon = Entitlement

Essendon now are the Richmond of yesteryear. Arrogant, ignorant, obsessed with past glories, inward looking & unable to realise that the AFL is a totally different competition to the Old VFL.

They need a Gary March, Peggy O'Neal, Brendon Gale type of people to drag them into the current & future AFL.

Until then they'll remain very Essendony

Another day, another reminder of how ingrained Essendon privilege is across the land.

This time, the media narrative is along the lines of: if Essendon wants Clarkson, Essendon gets Clarkson.

The theme seems to extend to romance being the only reason Clarkson would now choose North Melbourne.

It's bizarre.

Essendon is in a death spiral. They don't have the tools to understand their predicament, much less do what's required to get the show back on track.

Clarkson would be mad to choose Essendon. People forget: he would be there to coach, not to identify and weed out every culture-killing lightweight who lurks in the mouldy corners of the 'Hangar'. Fixing Essendon is a 'whole-of-club' matter.

Clarkson is the wrong choice for Essendon and Essendon is the wrong choice for Clarkson.

Well said, you've perfectly articulated my position. Clarkson would be mad to take the Essendon job. As I said before Norf would be a better proposition for him.

And we forgot mention everyone is trying to be that 'person' that brought Essendon back from the dark days.
They are waiting for that white knight.
Have Essendon surpassed us
5 coaches in 10 years
Patterson Sproule Jewell KB Jeans / Knights Thompson Hird Worsfold Rutten and now Clarkson
Essendon have had 10 president's in that same time. The only president I remember was that bloke McMahon..the bloke Sheedy would always stooge by saying I might go to Richmond and he would resign him.

I don’t understand why the meltdown at Essendon, that list manager guru Dodoro has nailed every draft for 20+ years, it’s all good…..

Dunno. Love the thought of beating in the Grand Final again, but this time I

And they both failed at the Swans, even though Hafey had that run with the Capper era.

Yep Tommy killed em all at the RFC and couldn't get the Pies Cats or Swans over the line.
Failure is not winning a premiership? I would say Haley's results at Vic Park were anything but failure.

That footage is unbelievable. Basically telling the coach to f-off when he’d have to be aware the cameras would be watching.
Such disrespect cannot be tolerated. Regardless if you don’t like your coach you have no right to publicly disrespect him like that.
If that happened at punt Rd how would the coach react?

let them burn ...............Hird back would be just perfect ......................

Whilst that foitage of Hind isn't great - you should always look your coach/leader in the eye when talked to.

It is typically mischeavious of the media.

That was taken when 50 points up against North directly after getting dragged for giving away a 50m.

Poor form but not as bad as media played out.

Why wasn't brought up after that game?
Nice forensic work. Yes I bought the media line

Interestingly, since Coleman coached them to a win in 1965, the Bombers have only won 4 flags since. All under Sheedy. We have won 8 in the same period and been runners up a couple of times while they had one runner up occasion. Yet Essendon is talked up as this “a powerful” club. Their period of dominance was more like a 100 years ago than a decade. They had won 6 of their 14 flags by 1924.
From the time I started barracking for the tigers in late 60s never saw Essendon as a big rival. They were very pedestrian after 68 and its wasn't until Sheedy arrived that they improved which coincided with our decline. Could never figure out why bombers fans hated us so much as we were never a threat to them ..
95 semi excepted.

Very good pick up there old boy. That’s very shifty editing by Cornes (or whoever was responsible).

Yes as a kid growing up in the 70s it was all about Richmond, Collingwood and Carlton. Essendon were nobodies. Sheedy turned it around when he started as coach in 1981.

Hawthorn and North had a bit of a run in the 70s also didn’t they Ridley? Fair to say though, I imagine they would likely have had a bit of novelty value, being their first real run at some sort of sustained prominence.

Spot on Riddles. The Bummers were a forgotten team since their 1968 flag.

Yep. Lolnorf only grew a bit due to Barass, and then the Dorks grew bigger from their 1982 - 1991 success, but still not a big 4 team.
