Essendon = Entitlement

Dunno about that. The new President is the one pushing for the external review and they haven't sacked Rutten yet. I get the feeling the previous President was the one pushing for Clarkson without a proper review. The proof will be in the pudding I guess.
I don't think so Ian. Brasher was a huge supporter of Rutten and publicly backed him to coach next year. I think it's pretty obvious the rest of the board have a hard on for the messiah JPY Clarko and forced Brasher to walk so they could go after him balls and all. The external review will be a whitewash.

I'd be very surprised if Rutten is coaching against us this week.

Have a read what Dane Swans tweeted last night.
Tottaly agree.
Clarkson isn't the only bloke on this planet to coach a premiership and why is the media treating him like a God when they spent the last 3 years giving it to him when he was at hawthorn.
And in hindsight I think he made many errors to regenerate and continue a Hawthorn era of competitiveness. Unloading too many veterans too quickly was not the way to go.

There are lots of things to rectify at North/GWS/Essendon and there will be no guarantee of a top 8 finish for either club (GWS and Ess in particular). Whilst a different era it reminds me a little of legend coach Allan Jeans coming to Richmond in 1992.... 5 wins 17 losses later, if you dont have the cattle, you dont have the cattle.

Life is a funny thing.
All my teen age years I would turn up to all our games and cross my fingers that we might win today.
3 or 4 wins was the norm, but a 7 win season was unbelievable.
Then you watched Essendon dominated in September and you would see the see red and black all over the city and wished maybe one day that would be yellow & black.
35 years later we have become that Essendon and they have become what we were in the late 80's early 90's.
New coaches every 2nd season, holding onto plastic promises and having 2 or 3 quality AFL footballers.
They are miles away from recovery and knowing Clarkson he will throw 2 1st rounders to get Degoey and try to find the quick fix.
Clarkson will make Essendon worse
And how good that will be.

Interestingly, since Coleman coached them to a win in 1965, the Bombers have only won 4 flags since. All under Sheedy. We have won 8 in the same period and been runners up a couple of times while they had one runner up occasion. Yet Essendon is talked up as this “a powerful” club. Their period of dominance was more like a 100 years ago than a decade. They had won 6 of their 14 flags by 1924.

Clarkson has justed told Essendon that if gets the job he will bringing in his own team.
Essendon have asked for more details of the team. At the moment it's 6 + Clarkson.
This is the last photo of the teamScreenshot_20220816-093242_Samsung Internet.jpg

Yep Hind came across as a spoilt little child in that clip. Very very poor attitude. Shows a very toxic culture in that club.
That got me so angry.
Rutten shouldve ramned his head into the bench.
Smart ass.
Kok smack. Shitest footballer acting like a hero
Would he have done that to Hardwick or Matthews or Malthouse or Clarkson??

He has nothing there our 93/94 team would scare Essendon off the ground if we played them tommorow.

Essendon is just like Collingwood. Both considered powerful and successful clubs but the reality is the vast majority of success came in a much smaller and less professional era when people were still getting around by horse and cart and having milk delivered in bottles to the doorstep. Also an era where under the table payments and skullduggery were rife and there was little oversight.

They are just not that good.

They won flags in eras when 99% of the population was at war or staving.
Records always need to stand. But even before we won a flag, I've always said now it should only count under the AFL banner that started in 1991.
So since then they have won 2
Hawthorn 5
Wc 3
us 3
Sydney 2
Brisbane 3
Melbourne 1
Adelaide 2
Port 1
Geelong 3
Footscary 1
North 2
Collingwood 1

Etc

Whats the soft cap next year? $6.5m. Pay Clarko $2m and then what do you have left. We have struggled with coaching depth this year and whats Dimma on, $1.2-$1.3m?

They will bring in their messiah, realise that they cannot bring in development coaches (which is essendons biggest issue, I mean how many of their draft picks have actually improved to become the players they were expected to be, I'd hazard a guess they are worse than average).

Clarko's wage will keep that club in the duldrums, regardless of what is coaching can generate for them. They do not have a strong list (despite what "Essendon people" believe) and thats due to poor development coaching.

Giants are going the right route, cheaper (but very experienced) new coach, and then build a strong coaching team (including development coaches) around him.

There's no difference at Essendon. Lloyd can't count to 5 but thinks he knows what's the problem.
What a prick of a person Lloyd is. As CAPTAIN of Essendon he continually backstabbed and sniped Knighta when he was coach. I thought the captain was supposed to support his coach.

Lloyd needs to wear all the years of Essendon being a rabble. The culture that he presided over as captain is still present.

I would love to see Knighta get another senior coaching job and win a premiership. And when accepting the premiership cup, yell out Matthew Lloyd you were wrong.

Another day, another reminder of how ingrained Essendon privilege is across the land.

This time, the media narrative is along the lines of: if Essendon wants Clarkson, Essendon gets Clarkson.

The theme seems to extend to romance being the only reason Clarkson would now choose North Melbourne.

It's bizarre.

Essendon is in a death spiral. They don't have the tools to understand their predicament, much less do what's required to get the show back on track.

Clarkson would be mad to choose Essendon. People forget: he would be there to coach, not to identify and weed out every culture-killing lightweight who lurks in the mouldy corners of the 'Hangar'. Fixing Essendon is a 'whole-of-club' matter.

Clarkson is the wrong choice for Essendon and Essendon is the wrong choice for Clarkson.

On a superficial level, their players are a massive issue that isn’t going to be solved for any time soon. Dildo-ro and co have traded and drafted for players that are all the same in the sense of having little team/defensive/contested possession characteristics. Look at Merrett, Shiel, Stringer, Heppell, Parish, Caldwell, Orazio etc. All a bunch of cheap accumulators. Next to zero leadership where their playing style is concerned.

If rumours of Caracalla quitting are true, you could completely understand why given he’s dealing with a leaderless playing group that won’t play selfless team orientated football and subscribe to any of his tactics.

They’ve tried to copy a lot of what we’ve done, but they simply don’t have the character of player that’s gonna buy into any of it.

Without Hird Lloyd would've been a full time fly catcher.

If Clarkson is as smart as he makes out, he will know that Sheedy is as divisive as Kennett, and go no where near the joint.

Carcella is a dk too.
As soon as we won it he high tails it straight back to Essendon.
Did he forget that Sheedy put his name up as a player that they could off load to release cap space?
Serves him right.

Yeah Dodoro is too egotistical to take direction from the coaching staff on the player type needed for the coaches game plan.

He just goes about targetting these "nice" players (both in style and mindset) that are the complete opposite of what Rutten/Caracella were trying to implement.

Only need to look at the horrible pressure numbers they put up to show that.

We know coming from Richmond Truck and Caracella would have been pushing pressure pressure pressure. The players recruited just don't have the physical and mental attributes to follow through on it.

They are a club divided all the way through.
