Essendon = Entitlement

And here I was thinking Hird would be wheeled back in as coach to take them to the promised land, guess I was wrong.

This another Barassi to Sydney, another Jeans to Richmond, Blight to Stkilda, Pagan to Carlton, Malthouse to Carlton.
There's no Buddy, Roughead, Mitchell or Hodge in the 44.
This is a wall paper job again.
What happened to the bloke that made Richmond Great Again? Carcella??

Ross Lyon would be the only experienced coach left if that's what they want.
Personally reckon Ross Lyon is a better fit for the Bombers. Needs to toughen them all up. Even the cronies woud shut up and let him do his job.

so... here's hoping they pick Clarko.

That footage with Hind and Rutten is terrible. Hopefully the kid was more embarassed with his performance than treating his coach with the contempt that the footage appears to show. What it shows is a lack of standards, respect and culture within the place. Any working environment with the right values would not have the employee treating the coach in that way. We have short memories. Same snippets they showed with Worsfold and players at the end. It's an Essendon culture (lack of) thing.

Their coteries and 1-2 ppl in their footy dept rule the roost. So Richmond of the past.

In a business way, they remind me of companies who never embraced the reality of change, values, culture that is needed today to be a successful company. Their old ways and old beliefs, highlighted by all of us on this thread, speak to a company that does not want to do the work to change with the times. They have no proper processes.

For sure.

I wonder if we get the band back together with Caracalla and Rutten.
Gee I hope not. Whilst I have argued for change within the coaching panel - not Dimma, he's the best coach of the last decade - being true to our values of being an innovator and driver of change (thank you Peggy and Brendan), means never going backwards, but looking forward.

Essendon the club that took everything that was Richmond and turned it into shiit.
They thought they could replicate 1981.
The 1st thing Clarkson needs to do is *smile* off Sheedy,
They would bag us that our past players and coaches had to much say.
There's no difference at Essendon. Lloyd can't count to 5 but thinks he knows what's the problem.
The back stabber in Sheedy.
The arrogance in Dodoro. Worse list in the comp and walks around like he is God.
The only God thing about Clarkson getting the job, all these X Essendon flogs will be gone.

It’s only going backwards if the game has passed them by, culturally and or tactically.

I don’t know if it has in either case but we took on Teague when the general consensus was that his game plan didn’t work and he had lost the players at Carlton.

I don’t believed Rutten and Caracella are in any worse position but the club would know better

Fair enough Cooper. What would I know from the outside, very true.

But for me, personally, I'd be looking for the next generation of younger assistants who have been working at other GOOD clubs.

Cara has now been at the Bombers for 4-5 years and rutten 3? not sure what either could have learnt/how their training and skills have developed in that rabble of a club.
Cant see how they would bring any better culture or tactical learnings given they've been at that shithole for min 3-4 years. Cara never wanted to be the senior coach. He pretty much left us for more money. It was said then (politely said) by all, even Balmey.
Ruttten wont get the gig again - he's no Voss or even Leppa - in a reputation sense - that will get a 2nd chance I dont think.

So, for me... we should be aiming for the next gen of slightly younger coaches with the ambition, energy and drive to be a senior coach working in a good environment already where the club has likely been investing in staff d/ment and training.

In a few years we will be replacing Dimma. It wont be with Teague or Kingsley. We have younger players now as the champions retire. Some younger coaches who have done the accreditation and been learning at good clubs would be on my checklist at the top for the interviews.

Adam Yze has that job 100% confirmed. He's putting together his team right now.

The bookies still have a market up on this scoop.

Mortgage your house and plonk it on and youlle make 50% tax free

I agree Bob, that I’d prefer to see blokes like Newman and Grigg at the club. Only making the point that Essendon being a basket case wouldn’t preclude them from getting a gig. Leppa’s performance as senior coach at Brisbane was a disaster and led to an exodus of players but he has turned into a very very good assistant coach

Most of the media are saying that Essendon met with Clarkson yesterday.

Why aren't the media doorstepping Clarkson? Probably too busy following Dusty around.

Whilst that foitage of Hind isn't great - you should always look your coach/leader in the eye when talked to.

It is typically mischeavious of the media.

That was taken when 50 points up against North directly after getting dragged for giving away a 50m.

Poor form but not as bad as media played out.

Why wasn't brought up after that game?

Have a read what Dane Swans tweeted last night.
Tottaly agree.
Clarkson isn't the only bloke on this planet to coach a premiership and why is the media treating him like a God when they spent the last 3 years giving it to him when he was at hawthorn.

More AFL policy on the run regarding the potential Clarkson appointment.

'The North offer is more financially lucrative than the Giants’ bid, however there may be scope for the Giants to bolster its contract via an AFL ambassadorial grant.'
Surely that comes into the soft cap. Corrupt bunch of crooks.

Life is a funny thing.
All my teen age years I would turn up to all our games and cross my fingers that we might win today.
3 or 4 wins was the norm, but a 7 win season was unbelievable.
Then you watched Essendon dominated in September and you would see the see red and black all over the city and wished maybe one day that would be yellow & black.
35 years later we have become that Essendon and they have become what we were in the late 80's early 90's.
New coaches every 2nd season, holding onto plastic promises and having 2 or 3 quality AFL footballers.
They are miles away from recovery and knowing Clarkson he will throw 2 1st rounders to get Degoey and try to find the quick fix.
Clarkson will make Essendon worse

Yeah that’s sh1thouse from Hind. Plus he’s an absolute Sh1tcart who should be kissing Rutten’s feet that he was ever able to play a game at the level. Pathetic.

Yep Hind came across as a spoilt little child in that clip. Very very poor attitude. Shows a very toxic culture in that club.

It's deeper than that too.
Bring in Clarkson, who will bring in his team, Todd Viney etc. Out goes CEO, football boss etc.

The external review will report a bunch of changes that are already outdated, eg improve football depth structure and communication. Yep done that by replacing everybody.

The external review will be a waste of time WOFT

Dunno about that. The new President is the one pushing for the external review and they haven't sacked Rutten yet. I get the feeling the previous President was the one pushing for Clarkson without a proper review. The proof will be in the pudding I guess.
