Elimination Final Game Day Thread v Lions

The AFL overturned our win.

Oh well, watch them tick it off tomorrow.

For as bad as the umpiring was, our ineptitude and insane amount of errors, plus the clear deficiencies we have as a collective are what cost us.
I worry of Dimma's stubborness to fix the way we move the ball because it's mentioned every week, he says we look into it or fix it, but to me it looks we do nothing.

You could say the same thing about Brisbane on many different occasions throughout the game - *smile* ups are footy games, it's not like our *smile* ups were of greater magnitude that Brisbane's.

Yet in the dying moments of the game we were robbed of a goal based on rules of which unusually for AFL is a pretty straight forward concept, and isn't based on some bizarre interpretation - "umpires call" unless there is conclusive evidence against. Where was that conclusive evidence??

No doubt this will be swept under the carpet
The real issue is our complete inability to win close games. 5 losses by a goal or less and a draw. We have not won one close game this year. We are complete panic merchants, fumbler and bumblers when the game is on the line. It is the difference between us and Collingwood this year. They are top 4 and we are out in another terrible EF loss.

Hardwick's inability to sort this out this year has been extremely disappointing. I wonder if he still has Fly's number? Fly seems such a great bloke he may give us some tips on how to win close ones.

Yes the umpires kill us; totally agree. It is a disgrace. But with all of that we should still have won.

We *smile* it royally. Story of our year.

Yep, all year weve played like we put our club bank balance on geelong to win the flag

Anyway I joined this board earlier this year to talk footy and thanks for indulging me. Really enjoyed it. I’m still filthy about tonight but I’ll get over it. Catch you legends over the off season and go tiges.

Just got home from the game, haven’t read a single post yet.

But from where we were sitting it felt like a good old fashioned rogering from the men in white.

First thing I’m gunna do is check out the score review from Lynch’s shot. The footage shown on the scoreboard looked inconclusive to overturn the goal umps call. Hope we weren’t stitched up.

2 positives to come out of the game. Our kids got a taste of finals football. That will hold ‘em in good stead moving forward.

And I met 2 of PRE’s finest in @spook and @AngryAnt. Ripping fellas.

We had 43% possession to 27% in the last 10 minutes of the game with the lead for 9 minutes of it.

But yet again we coughed it up. Unbearable this year. Unbearable.

Dimma got probably the 3rd-12th best side into 7th-8th

I reckon he had as much clue as the ARC guy.

Lynch shouldn’t have made it so indecipherable from 5m out anyway. There’s your REAL issue.
Irrelevant at the end of the day. Goal umpire said goal. ARC is a farce.

If they are looking at player reactions then look at Harris Andrews. He thought it was a goal.
So we've lost games this year due to common sense and a players goal reaction. Nice.

Look at the positive;

We now have 6 sides to barrack for in september.

Everyone but geelong.

Ill take a ginnivan or degoey norm smith right now,

If it means geelong do not win the flag

So the ump is in the perfect position right under the goal post calls it a goal and is over ruled by grainy inconclusive vision. Nice ream job

How do you know the goal umpire got it right either ? They’ve stuffed up this year as many times as ARC has.

Lynch looked like he had missed. His face and hand gesture said it all.

And despite it having been the sealer, not one single player went over to Lynch to congratulate him after he kicked it either.
