Elimination Final Game Day Thread v Lions

I never moan about umps. It's a dead end.
I think your stance will lead to a longer and happier life mate.

But someone needs to moan.

In every conceivable stat regarding officiating, we get REAMED. It's not right. There's more to it.

This why the AFL can't be taken seriously
Nakas was our worse.
And if you asked anyone who do we need to stop to win its Neale & Mclugge.
While Stavich held Bolton all night.
We didn't go anywhere near stopping those 2.
Graham's toe cost us big timeView attachment 16571.
Agree. If ever we needed Graham it was tonight. Probably the only player capable of doing a tag. Need luck to win flags and there is a lot of truth to that

Sorely missed Optimus.
Gets my goat that suburban hacks like Hopwood and Joe The Moe kicked multiple goals each on us and were made to look good.
Our defence or lack of needs bolstering.
Happy they blooded quite a few young 'uns.
A new era.

Nankervis? What game were they watching?

Pickett played his guts out and would be my BOG for us on the night

Oh *smile* off, the arc had everything to do with it. We were robbed.
So nothing to do with 3 tall players not being able to kill a ball in the goal line which lead to the winning goal? Nothing to do with our captain continually gifting easy ball to Neale and other Lions players in clearances despite not having a recognised ruckman to play against? Baker kicking on the full in the last quarter? Or not hitting Tarrant with a 25m pass and the ball gets locked in Brisbane's forward line instead of being in ours? MJ continually turning the ball over and giving up shots at goal? Our players dropping easy marks all night and missing basic targets by hand and foot? Gibcus giving the ball back to Brisbane every time he went near it. Bolton, Dusty, Cotch having virtually no influence on the game?

I think the goal review was wrong. But to blame that alone is just whitewashing the absolute hack *smile* show our players put up most of the night. If we had have played with some composure we win by 5 goals plus. That was a poor Brisbane team and we let them beat us through our own incompetence and ineptitude.

A goal umpire misses an obvious missed goal in the spotlight of a grand final (08?), so then we have the arc system deployed to prevent a blunder call like that potentially changing a result.

Apart from being another reason to dislike Tom Hawkins, the system as it’s used is ridiculous.

I haven’t seen an instance where I thought the system was worth the trouble. Why not review every finger tip in every passage of play leading up to the hair breadth goal/point call? May as well, as it’s the same logic used for these line ball things.

It’s a waste of time and it cost us the game.

Yeah, review in ultra-slo-mo,

The grandmothers orgasm at conception,

And see if her eyes shut

I can’t even remember what I said yesterday. But yes, probably. It is obvious. When there is one glaring weakness, it has to be fixed.
Not trying to put words into your mouth Tot70. I agree completely. We really need to hit some early selections on mids and forwards.

Yeh could not believe what lynch did. Dumb dumb dumb. Sums up
our season. What a waste.
We didn't lose the season tonight
We lost it coming into the season.
'Lynchy has justed completed his 1st preseason in 34 yrs'
'Prestia has enjoyed the long lay off and he is firing for round 1"
Both constantly missed games due to injury.
25 up against Carlton
13 points up against Adelaide
27 points up against Stkilda
39 points up against Sydney
40 points up against Gc
17 points up against Geelong with 8 mins to go.
That's where we lost the season.

I thought Balta probably played one of his worst games for us too tonight. He couldn't spoil the ball forward, he kept missing it or his punches went backwards. Really poor performance
Balta has been rarely great this season. Not sure whether he has peaked or is a champion in the making.

Early stages of the last qtr.
Lynch vs 31 the umpire blows the whistle.
99% of the people watching know its a hold on Lynch..
But no it's a free kick to 31.
How many 50's did they miss for us??
Yeh, twice they kicked the ball away after a free, no 50.

Valid points Ridley.

But everytime we threatened to blow the game away early they were GIFTED a soft free kick, putrid 50 or a goal against the flow.

If we get umpired the same way we win that by 5 goals.

We were up against it tonight

It's the butterfly effect. If we were up by 9 points with 3 minutes to go it doesn't mean that the rest of the game plays out the way it did.

Lynch should have kicked the goal without any need for a review.

The goal ump has trained for 20 years for the gig,

Been given $2k a week

And selected as one of the best to adjuducate a final,

And he says it a goal.

So, lynch DID kick the goal,

Didnt he?

Until the secret vertical post top lazer beams bleeped in real time?

But yeah agree with @Ridley ,

We blew it.

Still, id heaps rather lose without getting sodomised concurrently by The AFL

Nank just has to put 2-3 less balls down neales gullet,

And kill that last ball.

He might be done? F *smile* ed? Hes done a *smile* load if work?

Plus credit to lachie neale; he demolished us.

One if the all time great individual finals games imo

Balata is a complete unknown now. 6 months ago I reckon he was the best CHB in the AFL. Now who Knows? He ain’t real bright but that shouldn’t preclude a good AFL career!

By the way can we please trade Short. Have never seen a more ineffectual player. An absolute nothing player
Total sheep dog. Won't put his head over the ball. How many times did he just hack the ball off the ground when he felt heat instead of putting his head over it. 3/4 of his 50m "laser" kicks end up with the opposition and go back over his head.

The perfect trade bait. Someone will get sucked in and pay overs for him.

The most frustrating is when he stands and just watches at contests hoping someone will feed it out to him. Wing or trade. Nowhere near the middle or backline

Or, if we hadn't have *smile* up so much earlier in the game we would have been 5 goals up and it wouldn't have mattered.

That was a poor Brisbane side. We blew it.
