Elimination Final Game Day Thread v Lions

Neale was great.

But he had both ruckmen tapping it down his throat.

We looked competitive when Miller was in the ruck. We genuinely would have been better off not contesting the ruck than going in with a guy who advantaged the opposition.

Impossible to judge our midfield tonight with a liability getting first use.

An aside. We went into the year knowing the backline was our weakness. And we felt it tonight.

Teenagers and the elderly. Kmac showed us the age bracket we were missing.

The only time we looked like halving a ruck contest was when Miller played there

That’s probably the worst game I’ve seen from a ruck in my life. Couldn’t believe the amount of times he stuck it down the lions midfields throat. TBH you couldn’t do it that consistently with your own midfield if you tried. To give it to the oppo like that must be some afl record. He was a total liability

Except for the 2nd quarter, Sonsie was poor. Junior had some great moments, but kicked terribly. I hope they will be stars, but they didn't star tonight.

Gibcus was woeful.

Disagree - in a very hot elim final in enemy territory,

I had The sonz and mrj in our best while we were dominating.

Stars.

And gibbo was twice as good as nank and bakes combined

Human meatball has become a falafel. Too crumbly. Not sure we can rely on Prestia anymore. Needs to become the 4th best mid so can have an impact and can be covered when missing
If we want to challenge
Cotchin needs to retire or take a pay cut si we bring in 2 midfielders.
We need both Tarranto & Hopper.

Early stages of the last qtr.
Lynch vs 31 the umpire blows the whistle.
99% of the people watching know its a hold on Lynch..
But no it's a free kick to 31.
How many 50's did they miss for us??
Worst thing is Brisbane received 4 or 5 dodgy holds in their forward line. Did we get even one? Surely our backline isn't so much dumber than opposition backlines.

Umps had nothing to do with. Arc had nothing to do with it. As we have done all year, we shot ourselves in the foot time and time again. Great experience for our young 'uns, but they made a lot of critical mistakes. And so did premiership players. Neither us or the Bears would've advanced next week.
Huh?

They got 5 goals directly from soft questionable free kicks.

Hipwood got 3 goals absolutely gift wrapped!

We lost by 3 points from a very very dubious arc review.

I agree we were poor and would not be advancing next week, but how on earth can anyone say that game wasn't influenced by umpires?!??!

The 5 in 30 have alot of improving to do.
Gibcus was very very poor all night.
Cumberland was delist material
Miller just looked like he shat the bed all night.
We need to rejuvenate
Gibcus, Miller and some others were slipping over at critical times. They may have underestimated the impact of the rain up there earlier this week. Unprofessional.

While I agree it’s staggering. Are you really surprised? The afl can’t get anything right. It’s a crooked game, has been for a while and we all know it.
It's made up on the go.
Quickest review for a line ball decision I can remember

No don’t think we did. Jack was asking at one point and I saw a couple clear holds on Dusty.

It was unquestionably THE worst final played by a triple premiership warrior ruckman captain

In the history of the world.

He cant have been right.

His only bit of decent tapwork all night was when he put that ball on danihers toe in the goal square.

But he could play another 100 games worse,

And still be in credit.

Strange

He can’t defend or win the pill. He’s an outside flanker. It’s clear as day. Prestia, Dusty and Cotch go down I’m not putting my chips on this bloke to win the pill.

We’ve relied on the turn over game too much and not invested enough in our midfield. And now it’s bitten us on the arse. Can’t say we don’t deserve it

Nanks game made no sense???

Plus, we were always gonna lose a final on a weird opaque afl rule technicality - lynchys score review.

Thought the kids were good.

Shai's head was in the maternity ward. Dusty badly underdone

Not dimmas greatest hour, reacting to neale after 20 clearances, but he won 3 flags not panicking,

So we move on.

Sonsie and mrj are stars.
The kids weren't any where near good. Not their fault entirely but none had a game that exceeded a home and away effort.
Not saying any won't.go on to great careers but tonight was one.they will want to forget.
Mrj will cut some slack.

Need 2 x quality mids that can come straight into the team and at least another that can provide some much needed depth. Then another round of drafting that matches this years.

Nank seemed unable to connect his boot to the ball properly. Kept kicking it 10 metres

The bloke in the Arc has just returned the Brisbane scarf back to the club
How could he over turn the goal umpires goal of a goal? How??

One more.
If it's brushing a post they are analysing it to death.
Yet this sails over the "top" and they can difinitively tell it was hitting?
*smile* Off!
Umpires call over rules surely.
