Elimination Final Game Day Thread v Lions

In all honesty I think Dimmas stubbornness had a lot to do with tonight. After 5 mins he should have put all his energy in stopping Neale. He literally got everything moving their way. Had we stopped him early it would have been an easy win
Maybe he read pre. Neale was a high possession no impac t player who fluked a Brownlow

Agree. Neale should've been tagged, but mostly the way we move the ball is too risky and loose.

As others have said it sums up our season. We lost nearly all our close games.

We got some finals experience into some kids. Sonsie, MJ and Ross played well. Miller had his moments. Cumbo and Gibcus were really poor.

It is absolutely the right call to be going after ready made mids. We needed Prestia to stand up to win finals.

Shai really battled. Lynch's great kicking for goal deserted him when we needed it.

Lachie Neale was completely dominant. Fifteen clearances.

I would love to see the angle the arc had for the overturn.
I am seriously staggered by that decision.
Unbelievable
While I agree it’s staggering. Are you really surprised? The afl can’t get anything right. It’s a crooked game, has been for a while and we all know it.

I thought Balta probably played one of his worst games for us too tonight. He couldn't spoil the ball forward, he kept missing it or his punches went backwards. Really poor performance

Neale was great.

But he had both ruckmen tapping it down his throat.

We looked competitive when Miller was in the ruck. We genuinely would have been better off not contesting the ruck than going in with a guy who advantaged the opposition.

Impossible to judge our midfield tonight with a liability getting first use.

An aside. We went into the year knowing the backline was our weakness. And we felt it tonight.

Teenagers and the elderly. Kmac showed us the age bracket we were missing.

Well, we left the season like we played it. If it was close we lose, usually late and while in the lead - adds spice don't you know.

Pleased we stuck with our youngsters.
Early errors by this group let us down but I thought Miller came back well. And Morris Rioli overall, did a great job.
Cumberland, Gibcus, Ross and Sonsie however, must be disappointed.

Any way they will all be better off for it next year.

So picks 11 or 12, 19 and a third pick at around 30.
Aarts, Caddy, Edwards, Lambert, Martyn and Parker gone. Castagna on the table.

Over all the fact of the matter is that we are no longer contending.
We are in rebuild.

Both Cotch and Jack have earn’t the right to another year. They should play on but
I don’t think there is any chance either will play in our next grand final and it follows, as occurred tonight, that priority should
be given to our youngsters.

Giving games to the group recruited last year should be an early priority.

Don’t care one way or the other about Taranto because he isn’t good enough to put us in a grand final, and if North inquire about Tarrant we shouldn’t stand in his way.

Is this the 1st time the goal umpires call has been over ruled by no footage of the ball going on the other side of the post?
Lynch lined up like a 17 yr old 1st gamer.
It should've a 3 steps forward and 1 tithe left and a snap with his left.
It was an ordinary shot at goal.

If he just kicked it through the middle we would have won. Went a banana. Should have snapped on the left.
Lynch doesn’t have a left foot, he never ever uses it on that angle and it’s cost us the game. How hard is it to learn to kick a goal on the left from 3 metres out?

Agree. How can we STILL not know how to read the ball????

Thought the kids were good. Sonsie and mrj are stars.
Except for the 2nd quarter, Sonsie was poor. Junior had some great moments, but kicked terribly. I hope they will be stars, but they didn't star tonight.

Gibcus was woeful.

Seriously. How much do we have to take. Media hatchet job on the day of the final and a blatant cheat call on a goal that wins us a final.

Please for gods sake we as a club have to do something I’ve had enough. We are undermined every bloody time

Human meatball has become a falafel. Too crumbly. Not sure we can rely on Prestia anymore. Needs to become the 4th best mid so can have an impact and can be covered when missing
